A discussion in #osu gave me an idea, and after searching and not finding anything I though it would be a good feature.
Excuse the incredibly crude drawing. The greyed out area is pretty obvious. The section inside the grid being the actual crop selection.
I'd give it a try myself to create a template, but I'm terrible at coding. But that's the general idea.
