Here's a thread to talk about the RPG series starring two brothers that defeat evil stars, beans, and bats with occasional help from a turtle. Who is your favorite character? What is your favorite game? And why does Starlow keep returning after that one incident?

Rules

  1. This is about the Mario & Luigi RPGs. This means only talk about Superstar Saga, Partners in Time, Bowser's Inside Story, Dream Team, Paper Jam, and the remakes. Other Mario games, like Super Mario Bros., don't count.
  1. No arguing about generic Toads, please. Paper Jam had none of the characters besides Starlow because AlphaDream thought the story would get too complicated, so don't turn this into Miyamoto bashing.
  1. Actually, in general, don't personally insult real-life people. It's a video game series about Italian plumbers. No one should be insulted.
  1. Don't attempt to justify the bankruptcy of AlphaDream. It's okay to say that poor decisions led to their bankruptcy. It's not okay to celebrate it because because "Paper Mario is saved."
  1. All forum rules apply here.
  1. Don't eat weird mushrooms from a guy in a cloak.
Now that we have that under control, let's talk about the Mario & Luigi series. SHOWTIME!

Luckily, I don't think that's the case anymore. Besides the 2000's becoming the new "nostalgic era," Partners in Time used to be facing off against really tough competition. It was back when having a Mario RPG with no new characters or a remake with a mediocre side mode was unheard of. How could a game like Partners in Time face off against a game where you play as Bowser?

Nowadays, due to the decline in Mario RPGs, Partners in Time is now commonly seen as a time capsule, no pun intended. It was back when the games were creative, where characters would commonly return with a significant role and the artstyle was really cartoony and expressive. Overtime, people started to enjoy Partners in Time even more, and it became the classic that it is today.

That, and the Bowser's Inside Story remake's existence made people love Partners in Time more.
