Is there a hard limit on how long a beatmap can be?

I'm going to try mapping a 1 hour set called "Night Force" mixed by Shot Bass Idiots by working on it a little bit at a time over the course of a few months. I know 1 hour is ridiculously long and it can't get ranked, but are there any technical problems that I'd run into? Should I just chop it into different parts and map them one at a time?

It shouldn't be a problem, but then it has to go for approval. Everything above 6 Minutes has to go on Approval.
Also, afaik you have to call the Diff as "Marathon" to obey the Size Limit.

The biggest practical issue will be that it'll probably be extremely boring. If you use copypaste frequently, then you'll end up having a lot of repetition. If you don't, then you'll have an endless load of not a whole lot. Map it for fun if you like, but don't expect many people to play it at all.

It'd be a better idea to map a portion of it as a marathon--say, fifteen minutes. Perhaps you could chop together the best of the set, because certain parts of it will be more mappable than others. Try not to get too ambitious and focus more on improving your mapping. It was bad enough for me when I mapped the entirety of The Prodigy's 'Smack My Bitch Up.' That was pretty shit.
