That's bookmark, add them by pressing Ctrl+B and delete by pressing Ctrl+Shift+B.
Bookmarks doesn't do much to the map, if not saying it doesn't affect anything. But it can be extremely useful when you want to split sections, for example like splitting the verse, bridge and chorus, or splitting parts for each mapper if it's a collab.
