I'm currently working on making "PLAY" by Tokyo Machine and this is my first beatmap baby so I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing, I am only about 30% done with the beatmap with no intention of releasing an early version just yet, I just want to clear up a few things.

1. I understand the purpose of hitsounds, but how do I know when and where to put them, and where do they apply?
2. How could/should I post the map once I've completed the mapping portion, where do I go to get feedback, can I give them to people like Charles to review, etc.
3. Do people prefer maps with/without countdowns? Mine doesn't have one but I understand how to input and it would fit nicely
4. Why is /12 and /16 not recommended? I was forced to use 12ths to match the beats and make me seem competent
5. The MP3 I used for the music is a little quiet, is there any way to fix that or should I simply suggest turning up game volume?

Thanks for reading, any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated [^ VVVV ^]

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for that, but I'll try to answer anyway

1. Knowing when to use each hitsound is actually quite simple, take a look at this (and all others) pishifat's video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz6D7HPJ0eQ.

2. This forum that we speak right now is designed for that, you look for a queue that your map follows all the rules, post it and hope the author mods your map; modding means he will give you feedback. And obviously you can give it your friends or maybe experienced mappers you know in-game and ask them to play/review it.

3. Tbh I'm pretty sure it's a whatever.

4. "Not recommended" doesn't mean never use them, but it's complicated for new mappers to use them properly. Generally speaking, they are used to time sounds that the common beat snap of your map is not able to do properly.

5. I guess you could use some third-party software to make it a little bit louder, but before that I think you should check if the sound is good when the game's volume is maxed out

I was aware of it being not recommended for being more complicated, I guess I've just got a knack for it because it doesn't seem too complicated to me, it'll just take more time

The recording I used was just a bit too quiet I suppose, I'll have to fix, or at least just make sure to get it right next time because it's plently loud if game volume is turned up

Thank you!
