How to cut off the last part of the mp3 I'm mapping

Hi, I am currently mapping a song for the first time (did about 11%..), but I just realized that the last 7~8 seconds of this song repeats the intro and ends abruptly. (I think there has been an error during uploading by whomever did it.)

So.. I just wanted to ask if it's possible to delete or mute the last 7~8 seconds of the mp3 file through the editor, or to substitute my current mp3 file with a normal, errorless mp3 without messing up the map.

Thank you.

p.s.) This is also my first time to write a post, so please correct me if I did something against the rules here... ;)

The easiest way to do it is just get a progrma that is meant to cut mp3s like t/34303 .
The program is not the friendliest program, but if you look up how to cut a mp3 with it, you should should be fine.

you can also replace the mp3, hoever i can't assure you it wont mess your map since a different mp3 would have different timing and you would need to adjust it, if your mp3 ends abruptly it may be low quality to begin with, so i think the safest bet would be to get a better mp3 rather than cut it.

um how do I replace the mp3?? I tried few things just right now, and almost lost my map.. :( (glad I backed it up...)

The easiest way to replace the mp3 is to the editor. Go to file -> open map folder (something along these lines, don't have osu! open right now). Keep the window for the folder open while you close osu!. Now make sure both your old and new mp3 have the same name and drag your new mp3 into the song folder. Windows will ask if you want to replace the mp3 already in the folder, so please say you want to replace it. Now open osu! again, and your new mp3 should be working now.

(This explanation is long because I tried to explain everything, but in actuality, this takes 1min)

I got what you're saying, but I seem to have another problem..

The mp3 I'm mapping is currently named "2 .mp3 ", so I changed the name of the mp3 I fixed into "2 .mp3" and pasted in the song folder. But no pop-up showed up, and the name of the mp3 I just pasted changed into "2.mp3" automatically.

I think the spaces in the original mp3 are some foreign characters or special characters that my computer can't read.. I tried copying and pasting only the spaces up there, but it was no use..

So instead, can I change the original mp3's file name, and then replace it with the mp3 I fixed? osu seems not able to recognize the original mp3 file if I change its name... :(

Okay the problem here is a bit more annoying. To solve this problem, go into your song folder and open up your .osu file in a textpad of sorts (notepad is fine). Ctrl+f ".mp3" and when you find that line, change the mp3 name to the same name as your new mp3. Save the file and repeat for all of your .osu files. After doing this, you should be fine.
