A question to all osu mania 4k gamers

Imagine you been playing mania 4k for ages now and you want to change 4k to like 6k for example

Would it be weird? just adding exta 2 fingers

and so you changed to 6k from 4k and woudlent it feel weird trying 4k again or its just me because i tryed
playing 6k before and i was fucking bad lol and i didnt play 4k for like 4 days and i felt like i never played the game before its just me or anyone else lol.

4k was my first keycount. never managed to make sense out of any other keycounts, thumb or no thumb, probably because i never put too much effort into it

they're fundamentally different game modes. Having experience with 4key is helpful if you want to take up 6key, but you're still essentially starting from the bottom and working your way up. Likewise, just playing 6key won't keep you brushed up on 4key, you'd still need to continue practicing 4key if you want to continue improving at it.

All the keymodes above 4k play completely differently. As you have already seen, you skills from 4k don't migrate at all into any of the keymodes. I'm not sure why you got really bad after switching back from 6k, but you should be able to pick it back up within days. It's completely normal to experience skill decay over a couple of days.

For your reference:
  1. 4k is a really special keymode which focuses the most out of any keymode on speed. The most spammy IMO out of all the keymodes, and tbh feels least like a rhythm game to me.
  2. 6k is one of the most common anti-keymodes, and you probably have seen a lot of hard 6k maps bundled with 4k beatmaps. It flows really well as there is no middle key, but again your 4k and 5k skills are pretty much useless here.
  3. 7k is really hard to get into but rewarding. Your skills from 7k can transfer into 6k, 5k, and 8k (7k+1) to some extent, and its the easiest way to gain pp long term.
