I know a lot of people alredy made that kind of post , but i've tried everything on every single post about lags i could find.
Basically , i have some stutter while playing.
If only it was a diplaying problem , it wouldn't be , but this impact the input latency.
It is literraly unplayable this way since the change of latency makes my mouse react in different ways while playing.

So here is a list of the thing that i tried :

-Changing Nvidia Settings (Disabling VSync , shader cache , and pretty much anything not that useful for a 2D game that requiered performance and not beautiful settings)

-Changing the process priority (Even tho now you can't do it anymore , osu immediately switches back the process to High.

-Unpluging my secondary HDMI monitor (And also changing the framerate because at some point i had the screen overclocked to 75Hz instead of 60Hz)

-All way of limiting frame rate (Unlimited , VSync , Optimal , Powersaving)

-Changing the cpu thread osu runs on (This kinda fixed the problem at some point, but never really did.)

-Disabeling all programs that could increase latency (Any EQ program , power consuming ones like OBS, Nvidia Share, ...)

-Also tried osu!Lazer (Because Lazer uses multiple thread instead of only one like the original osu! , and from what i can tell , AMD CPUs aren't as perfomant in single threaded work as Intel ones)

-Set the audio bitrate of my playback devices to 16bits 44100Hz

And i probably forgot a lot.

So yeah , basically i'm hopeless.

At some point , this was not noticeable and i had no idea what happened, but now it's back to sh*tty performances.

Also keep in mind that all the changes I made in the Nvidia Control Pannel was set to osu!.exe specifically, and not for all programs , so (I'm not sure about that) maybe another program that used my GPU disables the settings that i set up for osu! ? I should try to set those settings generally.

I really need help troubleshooting that problem :/ .

So here is my config in details :

Motherboard : Gigabyte B450M DS3H
CPU : Ryzen 7 2700
GPU : GTX 1060 3GB
RAM : 2x8 DDR4 3200MHz
Drive osu! is running on : Crucial P1 500Gb
Main screen : AOC 24G2U/BK (I literally recieved it yesterday , so this could also add some problem in any way)
Secondary screen : BenQ GW2480
Mouse : G402 (Set to 1000MHz refresh rate in G HUB)
Keyboard : G512
Headset : G933 (I sometimes play with my speakers but this does not seem to change anything between those two)

Hope we'll find a solution , and that it could help other people having the same issue and general fixes not working for them.

EDIT : I just tried setting the same things as i did on the osu! process but for all programs in the Nvidia Control Panel, and it didn't changed anything

Best regards to all , hope you're all doing well in this weird period. Alexis Devios

Double check & confirm you've tested everything here help/wiki/Performance_Troubleshooting

How often are the stutters and lags?

A video of osu! open with frame time graph enabled (ctrl+f11) and Task Manager open & sorted by CPU usage while you are playing a map (you can use auto mod) might be able to give some hints on what is causing spikes or stutters.

Hey ! Thanks for you anwser.
So , i've just tried the Spike frame section of the troubleshooting page.
I disabled discord's overlay (which was still active on osu! for whatever reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
Re-enabled Windows Game Mode (Which i disabled yesterday for testings)
It also seems that those lag spikes occurs more often when lots of circles on the screen , or just my moving the mouse a lot. (Can't really tell if the lag is coming from the draw part or the input part)

I did record a gameplay with the Frame time graphs enabled (Recorded with OBS , but set to take as tiny amount of cpu resources as possible , it was around 6% , it is a OBS Profile and scene i have specific to recording , so no video background that can sometimes lead to more GPU usage) with also showing the CPU graph from task manager.

I also tested quitting Wallpaper engine which i usually have it set to an Audio Responsive wallpaper

That frame time graph behaviour is not correct at all, it shouldn't be moving like that.

What mouse do you use? If you can change the polling rate via drivers, try lowering it and see if performance increases. If not, you should probably uninstall your graphics drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller and installing the newest ones fresh. I may would also look into reinstalling your Audio & mouse drivers if this doesn't help.

My mouse is a Logitech G402.
Do you mean the mouse refresh rate by polling rate ?
I'm at 1000Hz
I'll try to do all those things and report you if it helps.
Dntm8kmeeatu
Yes I'm pretty sure that's it. Try lowering it.

I just tried lowering it. I tried 125 , 250 , 500 and 1000 and i feel almost no difference between those.
I assumed it was because i had the option to skip the device driver in osu , so disabled that and tried again. And again , nothing.

Also , i just realized that the graphs you could see on the record i did are not what is happening when i play , it is way worse when recording , due to OBS weird incompatibily method that makes osu lag when capturing the game.

So here is an other video where i show the spikes with different settings. https://youtu.be/b4-pY8ghTYU
There are timestamps on the video you can easily skip between different things i tried.

(If the video is not available yet , it's uploading and processing)

You should probably do these tests without all the background programs open.

Either way, my previous point still stands, that frame-time graph behaviour is not normal, and it does seem to be related to your mouse movements. Try starting a map with RX or no fail and not move the mouse, does it work as it should, only having issues when you move the mouse? Or try with a different mouse if possible.

My previous suggestions still stand about uninstalling/reinstalling mouse drivers and whatnot.

When I started playing osu! I used to have the same issue.
What eventually worked for me was to get rid of osu! completely (keeping beatmaps should be fine).
Then reinstalling (and copy over your beatmaps) and everything was working correctly.
Death
Please don't suggest reinstalling the game. It's very unlikely that it will actually work and you need to back up more than just your beatmaps if you don't want to risk losing things.

A better suggestion that accomplishes the exact same thing is to install the game to a separate location on your computer without removing the original install. You can have multiple, completely separate osu! installs on your computer at once. If the new install actually makes a difference then you can move your files over to that one without the risk of losing anything.

Yeah , reinstalling the game didn't fixed it of course.
To be honest , i don't think this is coming from my mouse drivers , since Raw Input and non Raw input doesn't make a difference , and i literally have no issues with any other programs.

https://www.vsynctester.com/testing/mouse.html
I tried this , and again filmed in slow motion , to show you that it is probably not my drivers. Absolutely no lag spikes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xrlwIcR6IU

Even if i recently changed my main monitor , going from 60Hz to 144Hz , i've had the same issues for a while now.
Back then , my solution was to change osu.exe affinity in task manager , and removing the 1st thread of my CPU. This of course doesn't work anymore.

Also just retried on osu lazer , and again in slow motion and graphs enabled. It looks worse to me , but lazer is still in dev , and might not have the same settings as i do on osu!classic.

Maybe it is a hardware issue ? I've reset my PC and change my main drive since then , and the issue is this the exact same.

I did not tested yet another mouse. I'm pretty sure i have a suitable one here but i need to find it. I'll test it when i'll find it and report any differences. (And the one i'm looking for is not using any software like Logitech's or Razer's , just Windows drivers)

I really wanna quit osu just because of this stupid thing , it's unplayable and unpleasant. I'd much rather have a constant "high" latency than one which just jumps inconsistently

The fact that you are having issues in both lazer and stable is telling that something outside of the game is causing this. Code wise you are essentially playing two different games.

Yes, please try testing with a different mouse if possible. And try what Dntm8kmeeatu suggested as well.

Final update :
I finally managed to get it working.
I tested another mouse that doesn't required any weird and "advanced" drivers , and guess what. Absolutely no lag spikes.
At this point I was sure it was a driver issue since my main mouse doesn't have any problem like that on any other programs.
So I unistalled the driver (Which was a nightmare because my mouse wasn't listed as Logitech Mouse of whatever kind in Driver Manager) , I also unistalled a driver called "Logitech Virtual Mouse" (Probably the Macro thingy) , unplugged and plugged back my mouse and yeah , no lags at all.

Thanks for the help , even tho it took quite a long time on my side to finally fix this thing , it's finally working and I learnt a lot.
