I am making a beatmap, and each of the notes is a snare+hi-hat sound. I want to disable this. Is there a way so each of the notes don't make a sound?

You may have one of the sound effects enabled on the right hand side for the notes. If any are highlighted like the "clap", "finish", or "whistle" unhighlight them by clicking on them. If you are still experiencing trouble than post your beatmap and I'll take a look.

You can do that by lowering the effect to 0 by holding Alt, scrolling the mousewheel, hovering the mouse to Effect and scrolling the mouse down again.

However, this is just temporarily turning it off, and I don't recommend disable it at all cost. Hitsound is the way to give feedbacks for players, though most players turned it off, you will be complained if your map has absolutely no hitsound at all.

fyi mania players hate hitsounds

you can use this very subtle hit hat sound as the normal-hitnormal or soft-hitnormal with 35% volume. press f6 in the editor to bring up the timing screen to change between soft and normal samples. https://puu.sh/FRkkW/2c80f635a0.png

but some pissy modders might come and complain it is too quiet, in which case i recommend just leaving it out as default because most players (probably) have their preferred hitsound in their skin anyway
