I search and didn't find anything. I don't believe this is a duplicate, but it should be, because this is a good idea and should have been suggested before.
I think that it's about time to add more organization to the song folder. We shouldn't have to deal with an unorganized mess of unranked and ranked maps in our song folder. It makes it very difficult to sort our maps, and the maintenance aspect is even more tedious of a task. osu! needs to split it's maps up into smaller chunks so that it wont be impossible to sift through 16 GBs worth of songs.
The idea is simply: Have a folder for ranked and or approved, and one for unranked, and one for maps that you own.
Think of how much more efficient it will be to sort maps in game when everything is already organized in folders. If we took this idea further, a lot of previously unreachable sort options would become more reasonable. People want sort by date. Why aren't the beatmaps organized by date ranked? (This would be in the ranked folder) or by date submitted (this would be in the unranked folder). Unsubmitted would be a separate folder as well. If this system was implemented each folder could have a year subfolder, which would allow organization by date possible.
