Problem details:
I want to make a beatmap but osu! is just reprocessing my beatmaps instead of actually allowing me to use a song. This seems to have occurred after the latest update, and it worked fine before

Video or screenshot showing the problem:

osu! version: Stable 20200424.2 (latest)

What is the name of the mp3 file you are trying to add, what happens if you rename to something else like song.mp3 ?

Any MP3 does it, doesn't matter what the name is.

The reprocessing probably shouldn't happen, but it looks like ultimately it ended up working anyway?

After your maps finished reprocessing it looks like you were hovering over a newly imported map, you just have collections selected as your grouping so it didn't appear on screen.

Does it happen with importing beatmaps or just mp3s?

Nope. An MP3 must be configured before it appears as a beatmap, and for me it just reprocesses all 9000+ beatmaps I have. And I did check my maps and there was nothing new there.

I just tested and can confirm. Currently reporting.

I will update when possible.

The video you posted shows the game switch to a blank beatmap after everything is done processing. You then need to click on the blank map to start editing it, but that is not clear because you have collections selected as your grouping. Change your grouping to something else that actually shows your maps and then try looking for the mp3 you just imported or try importing again.

The reprocessing issue will probably need to be fixed because I don't think that is supposed to happen, but you should still be able to edit new maps in the mean time.

Just MP3s. Importing beatmaps does take a bit longer and at the end I see a list appear scrolling very quickly for the brief moment before it fades back out.

This will be investigated soon. Thanks for reporting.

In the meantime if you want to start mapping that song, please advise Death's above posts.

Okay. After doing a bit more tinkering, I found it doesn't open the beatmap, but instead, there is like a ghost beatmap with the song playing and a question mark in the top left corner. Clicking the osu! button opens it and allows me to enter the song setup. I would have discovered this sooner, but I wasn't wearing my headphones.

Thanks for the help! Letting osu! process over 9000 beatmaps is very time consuming sometimes (I have an Intel i5 U-series), and I don't want to wait anymore.

The same kinda thing actually happens to me as well, 1 difference though, whenever i import the mp3 it doesn’t import or anything, like it just refreshes all my beatmaps without actually importing the song itself. I’m on the latest version of osu!

It's possible you're having a slightly different issue as well. Are you sure it's not actually importing? If you hit enter right after importing the mp3 while in the editor, does it open that mp3 for editing?

Do you get any other errors?

I see I have the same problem. After I was mapping my 1st map somethink happend to osu and all the time from then I try to download any song (ranked, qualified etc.) it's refreshing all my songs don't know why. I found yesterday a ghost map (like iijj22gg wrote up) and it was my map what I actually delete. I delete the map again and it doesn't work. Is it posibble that problem was after last osu update came?

This was caused by an update. It should be mostly fixed on Cutting Edge if you want to try it out there, or you can wait for the changes to be pushed to Stable. If you switch to Cutting Edge and are still having issues you should post here: https://github.com/ppy/osu-stable-issues/issues/436

Edit: The fix has been pushed to Stable, please update the game and check to see if you are still having issues.

This should be fixed in Stable now, marking resolved.

Please let me know if it's not fixed for you or the issue returns.

Okay, the update seems to have fixed the issue entirely. I did have to delete a whole lot of maps called "//" that I found by randomly hitting F2. As Death said, it seems that these "ghost maps" do indeed save. But anyway, thanks for fixing the issue and helping me figure out I could open the beatmap after the reprocessing.

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't check the website yesterday.
