When i click play mode, Osu! tells me "You have no beatmaps! Place at least one beatmap or audio file in the songs directory before starting!".

However, i have a whole load of beatmaps which i downloaded just now!

Help please!

Are they in the Songs directory? Are they sitting in there as .osz or .zip files?

They are in the song directory, and they are .osz files.

edit: i tried zipping one of them, but it didn't work.

edit again: does it matter if i renamed the original files?

Right.. i somehow got it to work.. no idea how, but it works now.

However, as a side effect of that, Osu! has been going all funny. Here's a screenshot:

Uh, I'm very scared!

What graphics card do you have? You may want to try updating the drivers.

Bump because I'm getting this problem as well. I don't know if this will be fixed with a restart of the whole system or not, but even the one song that was showing just disappeared when I tried to fucking click on it.

I was so sure that at least the damned song selection screen would work at this point.

This map has been deleted on the request of its creator. It is no longer available.

Derp. Sorry, I, in fact, was opening them with Firefox. Funnily enough this was working alright, but there you go. Sorry I came across as really petty, and thanks for the tip.

Okay, no, not even the update just there fixed it. I definitely saved the files into the songs directory. I might just need to restart my laptop. Either way the maps were fine earlier on. No clue what else the problem could be, unless it's Vista (with UAC off, of course).

I've gotten around the Run As Administrator requirement on awpmomcomp before, and it led to some funky behaviour, so...who knows. If it's still wonky, post an error message if any.

Yeah, I still get the error. Even initially, when I opened the files through Firefox, they were still in my songs directory. Even after restarting Windows several times for various reasons, and trying everything from dragging files into the window, double-clicking them and just leaving them in the directory, they still outright refuse to work.
