Would there be a good way to change the native volume of a song before uploading a map that doesn't involve costly volume mixers?
maybe there's an option in the map editor and im blind, but the songs im using all sound too quiet.

Firstly, make sure the Effect volume is at 100% (Hold Alt, and scroll the mouse wheel).

Now, there are 2 ways to change the volume:

  1. If the hitsound itself is quiet and you want to change it:
    1. Firstly, put a number at the end of the hitsound (Like soft-hitclap2 instead if soft-hitclap). Consistency is also important here. Don't name each with different numbers, we will talk about it later.
    2. Then, go to the beginning of the section you want to change the hitsound, press Ctrl+Shift+P and it will have a pop-up screen, aside with a green line in the timeline, behind the cursor.
    3. Go to the Audio tab, there are three options on the right of the Sampleset section. Choose the third one, and change the number you want. Now the reason I said consistency in naming is important, is this one. The number you choose will affect samples with that number you named in the first place.
    4. Finally, press OK to apply the change.
  2. If the hitsound itself is already loud:
    1. Firstly, go to the beginning of the section you want to change the volume.
    2. Then, press Ctrl+Shift+P
    3. Go to the Audio tab, in the Volume section, change the volume at your free will. The four buttons at the bottom is for test to see if the volume is good for you.

On both 2 ways, you can also press F6 in certain section and change it again at your own.

They are talking about the song volume, not the hitsound volume. It is generally not necessary to change a song's volume, just use the original audio file.
