When I login, there will be people talking about something. I usually join in the conversation, but a lot of times I have to wait for them to switch topics because they've started referring to something as "it" when I don't know what "it" is.
So to know what they're talking about, I scroll up and press a button that loads the chat that occurred before I logged in. This way, I can engage in their conversation.
I hope this isn't a duplicate. I wasn't exactly sure how to word it in the search box.

I don't think that's how IRC works.

Unless it can upload every line of text from lets say 5-10minutes prior of your login then allow your client to download it.

Take note I don't know anything about IRC, but I would assume you would have to be connected to recieve the prior lines of text when they are entered.

IRC doesn't do that, once a message is sent and delivered then that's the end of that. A bot could do something like this though, so it's fairly easily possible with BanchoBot, but it'd look kinda messy unless there was specific code in the client to handle it, and I don't think peppy would want to add it anyhow.

Just ask what is the topic? Someone will give you an answer. And I think its not that hard to guess the topic after a few sentence. o.o They often change it anyways.

This feature will be too complicated to implement.

I think it should just display what was last said before you closed osu! (locally stored of course)

I thought that was already possible.
deadbeat
i know it keeps a record of all active chats if you disconnect. but i don't think it does if you close osu.
theowest
yeah, it doesn't. maybe it should then.
deadbeat
in the event of unexpected crashes?
theowest
well yeah, if all logs would store automatically and locally.
theowest
How about downloading previous logs (maybe pick between 1-24 hours)
Saten
It's like you ask bancho to log everything in every channel

A scrollback feature would be better imo

What about creating a background application that just receives the messages and saves them locally until you want to delete them?
