Going from Mouse tapping to Keyboard tapping after 7 years

Hey there,

I am very unhappy how things are with my current gameplay in Osu!.

After seven years playing (sometimes consistently, sometimes not), i am running against a wall of improving my skills.

The thing is i played the whole seven years with tapping "Mouse 1", while maintaining streams and such with the right click of the Keybord pressing it alternately, sounds odd and it is.

I was thinking for quite a while now if it is worth throwing my experience and muscle memory with this playstyle and trying improving on Keyboard only. I tried many times to change that but who would have thought that my performence is going to get worste (͡ ͡° ͜ つ ͡͡°) .

By the fact i wasn't improving much i got back to my "normal" type of playstyle and went with the flow.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like to collect opinions about whether it is still worth changing after 7 years of gaming with this playstyle or whether it would be smarter to focus on the current type of play.

I know some people have success in playing their own way, but i don't really know if i can see me do better than six star difficulty with these long streams in particular.

Thanks for listening and thanks for your comment in advance.

If you aren't happy playing with your current style anymore, it can't hurt to experiment with different ways to play, you can always switch back whenever you want or play with multiple styles depending on what you feel like playing.

I play with the same style as you by using M1 clicks for almost everything and the keyboard for streams/alternating, and even though it's generally thought of to be an inferior playstyle, it works for me, so I like it. That doesn't mean I've never felt like it was holding me back, I've had those thoughts a ton throughout my short time playing the game, but it was almost always my mindset, not my playstyle because I would quickly improve past points I never thought possible for me while using my usual style.

I would recommend experimenting with other playstyles, but don't feel bad if you don't like it. Something I've done is switched to other servers such as Ripple or Akatsuki so that I can track my progress with keyboard and tablet separately from what I've already accomplished with mouse clicking, which makes the transition feel better because you feel like you're actively improving.

If you feel like you're stuck at a wall and aren't improving, just remember that playtime and mentality are almost always the biggest factors in skill, and that it matters more than playstyle does.

if you got to where you are today, i don't see a reason to change it, though as the guy above said, it will not hurt to experiment with multiple styles, its not like your gonna lose your ability to play with one style if you switch to the other, you can always come back to what you find most comfortable.

Well thanks for reading my shit, i very appreciate it.
2 years ago i had the same idea of playing on Ripple! and i did it for like 3 month, but with semi-success :^).

Since you are playing the same playstyle as me just doing great, it gives me confidence.

Maybe i'll just focus more on things i can't do well instead of just playing maps im confident with.

I think you are right, of course you are, mental/playtime is just superior.

I guess i'll take you as example for having success with my kind of playstyle, i honestly thought that noone ever would play like me, guess i was wrong.

Well thanks again for taking your time giving me your opinion on things, i will be watching you ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
