Instead of an "Overall Difficulty" slider, it would be nice to have three sliders:

Note Fade-In Speed
Spinner Difficulty
Accuracy Level

It doesn't seem logical that if I want a level with a really fast note fade-in speed, I automatically have to have super-hard spinners and an accuracy difficulty where it's very difficult to get even a small streak of 300s.

I'd imagine that it wouldn't be too hard to program this if all three of those are already separate variables.

Well it actually does seem logical to me. If you have very fast note fade-in, I assume the aim of that would be to lower accuracy - hence the accuracy settings are tighter. And having very easy spinners as if they're not easy enough already on very fast fade-in maps seems a little strange personally.

If you think about how Ouendan/EBA works - the Insane modes have very fast fade-in, very high accuracy requirement and pretty darn hard spinners, all in one go. The three settings pretty much go hand-in-hand.

Of course, that's just my opinion - the opinion that counts is peppy's is the rest of the general public!

Meh. I say add every possible difficulty setting in the .osu file with a scale of 1-10, 10 being hardest/fastest.
