timing is all pretty spot on(im an expert ouendan/eba player from ds so im pretty good with that)
the song is hard on some spots easier on others so expect between normal and hard(insane if i decide to make the notes smaller ;) but i dont think i will i like the size currently)

Everybody is doing Japanese and anime music, for the most part, so I figured I'd be a badass rebel and work on obscure bands nobody has ever heard of, because that makes me a badass rebel. Which I happen to be. Also, it means nobody will beat me to the obvious answers.

My first beatmaps are No Children, by The Mountain Goats and Ri Ra by Clann Zu. As a horrible perfectionist, I'd like to say it's going great so far.

I'm doing Tentai Kansoku, by Bump of Chicken. I doubt anyone else would be doing that anyway, but I wish iNiS had used it for the final song instead of Sekai wa Sore wo Ai to Yobundaze... That song didn't have as much power to it as the other final songs, IMO. This is my first beatmap, so I can't guarantee it's going to go anywhere yet... I'll probably need some help.

Anyway, what should I use as the artist of this song? Right now, I'm using 'Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuukai'. Is that okay? Also, the video I'm using right now is kinda huge (44MB). The video quality is top-notch, but I doubt anyone will be willing to download the file this big. Any suggestion on how to reduce the file size?

vdub it xvid 1200kbit or so. should still look ok. also remove the audio stream. you can either leave the artist as you have it, or track down the name of the actual singer.

I'm not experienced, and I'm slow, so I don't mind if someone else makes one too, just thought I'd let people know.
I am, however, somewhat experienced with Ouendan... (SSAY Hidden S, 12 100s.) ;)
I have a pretty good knowledge of rhythms and time, so I'm trying to make something more interesting from a rhythmic point of view... So far, it's mostly timed and I have up to the chorus done.

Okay, I dropped KitaSaitama2000, the Go-Go mode (Morse code part) is also impossible listen in slow mo, making it hard to map.

That is why I put everything in my sig. I originally reserved six songs, and I'm in the process of doing that sixth one (there was a last-minute addition along the way). It's much easier than having to peruse a thread, I think.

That's encouraging... I had already started the map before I posted here and noticed the pre-existing one.

It doesn't look like the current one has been touched for a while, and the insane mode is pretty much a clone of hard. I'm actually quite happy with how the one I've been making has been turning out, so I guess I'll finish it and see what people think. Oh, and I'm using the opening version, the other one is full. (And 4 minutes long)

My first beatmap, a hard one:

Tsuneo Imahori - Tumbling Dice [Insane] (FINISHED!)
Rip Slyme - Super Shooter (In progress)

Even though NOBODY would take on this beatmap, the beats are terribly uneven, I'm constantly having to mix 1/8 beats with 1/6 beats for a beat stream. The song is cruel on me, I'll be cruel on the players by making the hardest beatmap ever (not because beats are quick and far apart, they're not, but because it's pretty fast and constant.)

I hope it gets ranked when done...

Chrono Cross - Yasunori Mitsuda - Time's Scar

It's the opening theme to Chrono Cross, and I think that the great percussion in the background really lends itself to a fun beatmap, if done correctly. I'll probably make normal/hard follow the melody, while the insane map will get creative mimicking the percussion and violin bits.

One more thing, instead of repeatedly posting in this thread, should I be just editing my original post?

I picked Red Hot Chili Peppers - Love Rollercoaster for my first attempt, and it's nearly completed. I've done all the phrasing, and am only fixing up the last parts of layout. Then that's it unless I decide to attempt to add video. If anybody wants to test it out when I have a worthy build, I would appreciate the feedback before submitting it for distribution. PM me here.

I also just began The Breeders - Divine Hammer so I would have something else to work on when I get sick of hearing the RHCP track.

If you're unsure of anything, it also wouldn't hurt to post in the Beatmap Help forum. Additionally, the purpose of the Completed Beatmaps forum isn't to say "here is my perfect, super-awesome beatmap", but more of a "here is my nth draft, please review and if necessary help me revise it", so there isn't really a need for undue caution.

However, if you'd still rather take the private distribution approach, that's your decision and we'll honour it (right?).

I'm reserving IOSYS - Futatsu No Tsubasa. It's an amazing song, by far my favorite from IOSYS, and will likely be the first thing I beatmap. Doesn't mean this will be anytime soon, though. I also can't decide if I should do the cut version with the flash video that's about 2:20ish, or do the entire 4:30ish version.

Okay, I'm dropping those last three. I can't seem to find the time to finish 'em. Forgive me if somebody else wanted to do them, saw them here, and decided not to.

Meant to Live is gone, I didn't like how it turned out after awhile, despite the song rocking so much.

My current, and ONLY beatmap I'm working on is the god known as:

Please Teacher - Snow Angel AMV (Official)

It's from the Please Teacher anime (As stated in the song title...), which is a FREAKING AWESOME (Although somewhat short) Anime, with absolutely wonderful English voice acting for a change.
I hate dubs, I hate 'em, but Please Teacher shows that it's possible to get skilled voice actors that fit every character in the show. Not to mention that no content in the actual series is cut.

Alright, I'm getting off topic here, anyways...

I will get this beatmap done, and I've got the video down to an ok file size of 22MB, with very nice quality.
Don't expect it anytime soon, however.

I'd like to reserve Eyes on Me by Faye Wong for the time being. Although I doubt anyone would be making the following beatmaps on a hurry, I'm also reserving Song of Ashley from Super Smash Bros. Brawl (the Japanese vocal version) and...Maemuki Roketto Dan. Yeah, I know.

I use OSS video converter for compressing videos. It works pretty damn well imopinion (compressed an 85 megger into 24 or so, pretty good quality). Using Xvid and occasionally divx codecs.

Okay, screw everything else on my list.
The only ones I now plan to do are:
Half by Kawamoto Makoto and
Metal Gear Solid 2 Theme by Harry-Gregson Williams (It'd be much appreciated if someone could send me a relatively small avi of the MGS intro)

I do a lot of musical work (hell, when I'm in college in a few years, I'll be majoring in music theory/composition). The styles I go for tend to vary. I've definitely got these types of works done (unfortunately they're on another flash drive >:):
-Classical/chamber ensemble pieces.
-Trance.
-Breakbeat.
-A strange mix of MIDI ska music, terror, and breakbeat.
-Drum n' Bass

I'm working on that first and the latter, mostly, but I'm slowly beginning to understand how to (correctly) do trance, and I might end up doing some shuffle pop-y type stuff or happy hardcore if I'm feeling ambitious.

And as for the strange mix of MIDI ska music, terror, and breakbeat...I'll need to get back that flash drive I lent to a friend due to needing it for projects she's had due all this month. It was interesting to say the least.

As for links to this stuff, they will be available in the future, when I'm able to crank out some more tunes. :P

Back to Osu, cleaning up the crap I previously started and getting back into seriously making beatmaps.
Which means no more jska files for now, but more Phantasma.

Do you see a pattern?
- Danny Elfman-Mike Teavee (Insane finished, mapping other difficulties).
There's more in store, but I guess it's unfair to reserve so much all at once. Once some of these beatmaps have been submitted, I'll update this list.

so I'm going to start a new song- Europa by Globus, not that any of you have ever heard this before, it is amazing and it will make an amazing beatmap.
