Since there were 2 Taiko 14 machines, I went for 4 rounds, trying which drum was the best for me. The first drum I played was pretty OK, but it took qutie some force to hit so I switched. The second one I played had a faulty left-Katsu in that it can sometimes register a right-Katsu as well... wasn't helping that I was playing Koibumi that time (...no that's not a dirty comment). The third one was the worst in that the left-katsu needed to be literally bashed in order to register (whcih is odd because someone else was playing fine on it previously @_@). The fourth one however was extremely perfect, so I stuck to that. These 4 rounds of 4 songs were mainly to get me used to the actual controller. My hands are so happy right now, it's like it's in paradise...

I've never even heard this song before; I actually picked this out of accident as I was trying to switch songs but hit the don face instead. Pretty good song. Oh and before i forget the mention, the other machine's speakers were too amplified lol.

You've got experience with PnM so IIDX shouldn't be too hard
to get used to (go for the easier ones first)
Jubeat…it's gameplay style is different (whack-a-mole with rhythm)
but it's not hard unless you get to tougher diffs.


So it's only up to The Movie for PnM and Sirius for IIDX?
That means I'm lucky then.

lolwut Zekira, always make it a point to stop a few seconds at the title screen to decide whether or not you want to convert to Ura orz (you should know the sequence by now)..Also, you've never heard of Mulberry? Oh come on, if you've heard of Shimedore and Taiko Time Ura you know it's the song unlocked together with both of them :| It's like Kimi no Akari all over again.

Also, how many rounds did you play in total? If I came across a new machine like this it'd be like 5 rounds in a row for starters, then another 6 rounds in a row after a short break lol (assuming 2 songs per round) :P

Hey,trying it out won't hurt anyone.If I went to Japan,I'll be the kind
to rush to the nearest PnM 19 even if it could be my only
chance to play it.
And if you don't wanna try cuz there's so many pros,then I shouldn't
be playing rhythm games altogether.To heck with the others,there's no
need to compare skills!

About taiko…stamina is definitely an issue when migrating from
CS to AC.Btw,ya better choose another kind of bachi if stamina
troubles you too much,preferrably something light.
(some use the kind for drummania,in fact)

Aluminium bachi should be light enough though, it's just the case of actually getting used to swinging your arms around a lot.

I actually have (aluminum) drumsticks that I was using for the first round. It was much more efficient, but since it was so thin it hurts instead of being tiring, so I used the bachi again.

Then get a light wooden bachi. I sawed a broomstick in half and used that as my bachi, works very well. And very cheap too.

I use wooden bachis,bought from some shop selling classical
chinese instruments.Slightly longish and thin,and light enough
for me I guess.

Drumsticks for western drums (with the knob at the tips snapped off)
are the best for mashing drumrolls,but they rebound off the drum when
you hit it too hard.

Heavier bachis are good for stamina training.It's difficult to use at first,but your
drumming speed will improve when you switch to lighter ones.

I'd think that console taiko was similar to AC. taiko. Apparently not lol...

I need to find out where I can go to play one. I don't think any major arcades with stuff like Taiko, Jubeat, Beatmania, or any rhythm game arcade games exist for about 2000 miles from me...

Taiko hardly exist outside Asia aside from that
Taiko Drum Master thingamajig.

For the Bemani franchise…While DDR is going strong there,
I don't think the others would make it to the US.
Konmai did try getting Jubeat there (renamed Jukebeat,or was it
Ubeat?) and there's Hello!Pop'n Music as a simplified PnM,
but arcade IIDX is out of the question.

Man,Konmai stop it with your No-Export-For-You idiocy.

So do I. Close to Silicon Valley actually. The only decent arcade I have seen here is the campus that I go to, and even then it's relatively small.... One thing it has that surprised me is Drum Mania. That's about it. Everything else is standard fare here in the US.

I was able to convince my parents that the few hours before I flight (Tuesday), we go back to Iluma so I can armrape myself some more :D and this I'm taking a vid because you guys apparently want me to, heheh

So if anyone wants to see me play a particular song, PM me which songs you want me to play. I'm not sure how many songs I'll actually play in the vid, but I'll pick out the most requested song and play those on the day. The reason I'm telling you to PM them is just for suspense, lol~

I don't deliberately memorize the lyrics for Senpuu
yet I can sing it easily…maybe I listen to it far
too many times lol
Same goes with others like Tenyou,the Angel Dream series (but

I sing a lot to almost all the songs with a moe female vocalist voice. Like a boss. Though some male songs I guess, in fact I sing to alot of those too... uh, point is I sing a lot of songs while playing wwww.

But... I don't know the words so... I sort make sounds that kind of match... lol.

It was because for some reason my JP UMD doesn't work on my PSP lol, that's why I was under the impression that it was.

I never said I was going to sell my DSi or get rid of it or anything, and I'm still getting 3DS and Project Cafe sometime down the road. But this Taiko is just too good to resist, even if 95% of the songs on there are things I've already played (and FCed) before on Wii. Hold on, maybe that isn't such a good idea after all lol :P

The only things I really want to play there are Etude Op.10-4 Ura, Angel Dream III, White Rose Insanity and console Punishment (I play this on a regular basis at my local 12.5). and if the anime list contains Best Wishes then more power to it

So there's the Asia release of PSPDX and the JP release of PSPDX up at play-asia...

I've been wondering that myself. At least for Portable 2 I heard that the only difference between Asia and Japan region is the manual and the price. Asia has a manual that is in english and is cheaper (for some reason) while Japan does not. I don't know if that's true beause I could not get my hands on the Asia region (they're also rarer for some reason).

Random: I could get something as low as 10% on my upcoming chem final, and I would still bump my grade up from a B+ to an A-. lol

If Namco are being conservative they'll probably stick to Portable 2's engine, which means no lyrics.

You can sort the songs by version you know.(change the sorting by
using the green buttons,IIRC)
Saves a bit of sweat scrolling through the shitload
of songs

@crystal: that's exactly what I did, and frankly I couldn't find Second Heaven in the list of PnM 17 songs...

...unless it's in Kanji, which would explain the reason why I wouldn't be able to find it...

Off-topic: since I'm dead bored at th emoment here in the office (waiting for my netbook to clean itself of the virus that came along with arken.exe...), I'd just share a few descriptions of what I'm developing right here.

It's basically a system that can monitor cases. 'Cases' like theft, negligence, etc. I sceenie'd a window of my dummy data and... I couldn't actually believe how much wacky I've been with my sample data lol; look at the fields...

To actually capture HQ videos of arcades, you would need to either have access to or own a System 256(?) PCB. I think I linked one to Ebay here a long time ago. Obviously that sale's long gone now. Even if you do happen to have one, you would still need at least the game CD itself and its specific security dongle. There's probably other things too besides that.
