[Archived] osu! crashing on launch with no error

Problem details:

When I open OSU right after the pink circle pop up the game crashes to desktop with no crash dump pop up. If i run it on admin it loads enough to play the "welcome to osu" noise. I have tried reinstalling my graphics driver, it didn't fix the issue. I also tried reinstalling and moving the game directory. There is also no information being logged to windows event manager with the last error being from yesterday. I have also tried adjusting the power settings in NVIDIA control panel. The repair osu.exe also shuts itself after a second or two.

If this just started recently, try restarting your computer if you haven't already.

Also, make sure you are searching through the "Application" logs in your event viewer. It's a bit hard to tell, but it looks like you may have "System" selected instead.

Restarting didn't fix it as I had to restart the PC to update the drivers. I last updated it earlier today(or well yesterday now) for it. I am selecting Applications in event viewer as well. I even went and checked everywhere in it to try and find a osu error but there isn't any anywhere for some bizarre reason. I know the typical fix for this issue is by checing the event manager but what does one do when event manager wont play nice?

The purpose of the event viewer is to try and find a crash log which might give a better idea as to what is causing issues. It doesn't actually fix anything on its own. Without any logs we're basically just guessing at what the issue.

Since you at least get to the point where you hear the welcome audio when you run as an administrator, please try doing that again and then post the "runtime.log" file from your osu!\Logs folder.

Also check to see if you've installed any Windows or driver updates recently.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like that log gives any additional information, so back to guessing.

Did you check to see if you have installed any Windows updates recently? Or perhaps any driver updates before you say you reinstalled your graphics drivers again?

The most recent change was me getting a new computer back in December. However it worked a few weeks ago when I initially installed it on the computer and isn't working recently. I recently updated Windows probably within the last two weeks but not immediately before I updated my graphics drivers on Friday. OSU didn't work before or after the graphics driver update and I cannot verify if the windows update was related to the issue.

Edit: I do know that a full restart allows osu to run one time but when i run it again it wont work. Please don't say this is a fix as im not gonna restart my pc every time to play osu

If it helps I have tried installing osu on two different drives, a C drive attached to the motherboard and a external drive plugged into my computer. I don't think this would have any effect, but does it matter what kind of drive OSU is installed on?

I downloaded the nvidia graphs driver update. I then ran it and restarted the pc as it instructed me to do so. No different then any other time I've updated a driver.

Could you try using Display Driver Uninstaller to uninstall your current drivers first and then try reinstalling your graphics drivers?

It suddenly broke again same error. I have not updated my driver or anything since then.

I tried to launch osu, but after the update starts and the osu logo shows up, the app just crashes? and can't open. The first time I run the macOS agent, the quarantine attribute is fixed, however when i do scan a second time, the quarantine attribute stays absent. I'm not sure, I havent attempted it again due to its overall difficulty. If it's only a temporary fix, its quite annoying to play osu for a few hours and need to do it again. Still no idea what the underlying issue is. The game will also randomly decide to work again before not working again later.

If it only works for a few hours that might just be the result of restarting your computer or something rather than actually reinstalling your drivers. You did say earlier that restarting also worked.

Not really sure what could cause the game to work sometimes and not other times though, that's kind of weird. Do you have any other applications running on your computer when you start playing the game? Sometimes seemingly innocuous programs (like Discord for example) have caused the game to crash for other people. In Discord's case specifically, it seems to be due to its in-game overlay. So if you have anything running that does something similar, maybe try closing it just for troubleshooting purposes.

I do have discord but game overlay is disabled and hadn't been touched in regards to the game working or not. I don't have any other overlay programs unless theres a virus lol. https://i.imgur.com/o57dGJA.png

Also restarting doesn't always fix it. I restarted my pc the day before yesterday and OSU still didn't work. It seems to be random when it wokrs and when it doesn't and that is the most confusing thing.

I can't think of any other programs that would mess with osu.

I have the same problem, once installed it works fine, but once i close the game and try to reopen, crashes to desktop

yo hello, 2 days ago when i open osu crashed and idk why, i think i just turn off compatibility, but i am not sure with that. I try uninstall and again install, but the problem was same. I open osu and when i login osu just stop and not working and this problem i have still. I will be so happy if someone gonna help me
