I dont know why but I find playing touhou with a ps3 controller using xpadder is much more easy (on a laptop)
It depends on what you're used to really; I think the same way too, so I use gamepads (since I have really played games on the Playstation controller more than on a keyboard; 12 years of holding the PS Controller, go figure)
How do you set your controls for Touhou on the PS3 controller? I use Xpadder and I'm getting very awkward button configurations on courtesy of ZUN.
i only use joy2key for the d-pad.

Analog Stick doesn't have enough of a dead zone to play schmups properly. I used it for the fighters, though.
Well my problem was that I already assigned the buttons to wherever I wanted, but when I started Touhou everything went haywire. Apparently ZUN still likes the old configuration of "Button 1", "Button 2", "Button 3" etc...oddysea682 wrote:

But that's fixed now, so it's OK.
Another question: How does your sprite move? Mine moves like I'm controlling it using the keyboard even though I'm using the left analog stick, for rather obvious reasons.

Check custom.exe, maybe you're dropping 1/2 or 1/3 fps, you need to choose the leftmost option in the last box.

I experience problems with MoF as well, but that was until I found the vsync patch.
