Get used to it, ragequitters can be found pretty often at this day and age. And it will only increase when Goblin Techies are added (which is announced to happen in the next 2 weeks).
I just hope the balance patch hits the game soon. Deathball push strats are way too powerful... and abused because of that.

@Nwolf that's a pretty good point. They pretty much exhausted the options for that hero, all the sets coming for that hero from now on will one way or the other resemble the old ones, which will get really boring. And if they finally kill Treasure Keys, like they are trying to do for some time now, people are going to be pissed if in some of those chests that are yet to come, a totally unoriginal and therefore cheap Furion set is what they get for, say, $2. I'd much rather see some sets for Terror, Brew, Enigma etc.

What is interesting tho is where will they go, since none of them admitted leaving the competitive arena.

Not confirmed yet. It's a rumor, yes, considered true thanks to gosugamers, but it's not confirmed. To tell the truth, I'd much rather have Bulldog leave Alliance, since the team is too heavily depending on him and rat dota strats. Which is not likely to change even if the 'new Alliance roster' comes true (with MiSeRy and fng or Wagamama replacing s4 and EGM).

So apparently SF won't get a remodel, and even though Void is getting one, they still will release a new set for him prior to it.
I still wonder what's the point of Arcana showdown if PA, the winner, isn't the only one to get it - SF, Kunkka and Techies are going to get their arcanas as well.
Speaking of which, Techies are going to get released in the upcoming week - they already did in the test client. About time to take a break from Dota. >-> Especially since there's no signs of any balance patch coming...

kinda let down there's no allah akbar scream when using the Suicide Squad! Attack skill

so apparently Techies works as a nice counter for Huskar, throw 2-3 barrels around you and when Huskar uses Life Break (for example out of the jungle, apparently Huskar players love doing it) to get to you just detonate them, free kills <3

I haven't been on a game today that the team with a Techies won.

Too many people claiming they know how to play techies, when really, all they know how to do is plant mines near the secret shops.

For days like these I'm happy I reached 5k+ where everybody tryhards enough to not pick Techies.

I know one guy who had all his frontpage matches with Techies and not once has the team with Techies won. They need to watch some good old Ritter DotA to see how2play Techies (in the Phillipines)

That is the case.

Except there were some ranked games (I think there were 3 this day) were people picked techies and then continue to suck horse balls right after.
I'm at 3.9k mmr BTW.

Edit: okay in retrospect, 3.9k mmr is still a pretty shitty hole.

techies is pretty much spirit breaker in reverse in terms of my reaction to him being on my team or the enemy team.

this seems like a bad april fools joke, are they going to remove him when they release the full patch? hes useless for anything but turtling out a losing game and maybe winning if you have better late game heroes and the enemy supports havent farmed the entire map to 6 items while you were doing it.

Riki became a league of legends hero. Juking and warding just became 10x easier. The bounty rune seems... I don't know. Silly. I don't like it so far but I have to see it in action. Weaver will be top pick every game together with terrorblade and legion commander. Venomancer will be high tier as well from what I can see.

I haven't played this game for more than 2 hours but from reading the patch notes I think snowballing has been reduced by a pretty significant amount with this patch, similar to what happened to League of Legends a couple months ago. I might try the game out again once the patch hits live.

I love how Doom doesn't mute passives anymore. They also gave more chances to counter LC which I loved to see as well. The removal of Composite, Universal and HP Removal seems kinda weird but in the end they were not needed anyway.

I wonder how new PL plays tho

You remember the patch when Centaur got reworked and got his totally overpowered ultimate (it used to stun with more damage and a lower cooldown iirc) and Drow got her new aura which basically gave you free ranged mega creeps permanently? The back toning on these two heroes is the most I remember, but then again I hadn't been following the changelogs much 4 years ago so I probably missed many things back then. Also 1000 Phoenix reworks.

Here is the best guide I have found for DOTA 2 so far, hands down.
Was always lurking between 5000-5100 for the past year but went up to 5475 MMR in just 2 weeks by just following these simple rules. Of course, I'm only just at the beginning.

Well it's getting good for getting good with this one particular hero, but in my opinion to get good in Dota in general you should play a diversity of heroes (and also positions).

It's understundable since you're a newbie

Once you got the advanced mechanics, feel free to play other heroes

Dota is really fun with friends, so try to find guys that have a good experience and play with them. Im definately sure you'll learn with them

i think im learning pretty fast on my own, i watch streams, mostly tournaments, a lot and take notes. i did just have my first 'high skill' game in ranked although im not entirely sure what that means since dotabuff is weird and obfuscated as all hell...

the thing is all the friends i could play with, they are all even newer than me, thats why i play solo ranked in the first place :(

im a very low level player [24] so when I queue i dont meet experienced players so its hard to find people like you mention. It's further exacerbated by the fact that the only time i do normals im queue'd with a friend who is level 10 or below... so where would you recommend i look to find a mentor?

The new item-drop system is kinda cool

Now, the game will drop full sets (including loading screens), arcanas, HUD's even at level one.

The drops are now based from time played rather than level based (it probably means that rarer item drops have a higher percentage of dropping the longer the match you're in)

Also, new treasure came out (although it's shitty)

other than that, more bugfixes and probably no diretide

Why? It was made clear by Valve already months ago that there will be no Diretide this year.

No, they didn't tell beforehand there won't be Diretide 2013, that's why everyone was so surprised and the GIVE DIRETIDE happened (ignoring the fact they never announced a Diretide 2013 either). So then with all the complaining Valve decided to enable Diretide.

A bunch of new stuff has been announced. New PA arcana, New tresure, The statue thingy, new mega creeps model, and a prediction

Nemesis Assassin is also a new event announced with the conjunction of the event

Broodmother and Phoenix got enabled in Captains Mode

I am fucking pissed on that spider for some reason, as for phoenix i'm really excited

The only thing I'm thinking about is that the event is unfair if you have (or one of your friends) to afford almost $30 if you want to play it.

Probably a reward on the non-PA arcana owners. It's just not good to pay 30$ for a damn event

THEY CHANGE THE MECHANICS. Ranked wont be affected by the Nemesis Event anymore.

so apparently, you don't need to own the arcana, you just need someone on any team to own the arcana to activate the event.

How many Oracles do I have to beat solo mid before they realize it's useless putting him mid.
Get him on the offlane or as support, but he should definitely not be a 1-2 position core guys

Also, never focus enemy core when Oracle is alive, it's basically death to your team

Well, I played against an Oracle who went 8-0 after 12 minutes and he had Dagon 3. Guess which team lost
(this happened twice)

Also, his winrate is 40%

BUT. If the team is good enough then Oracle can be extremly viable. I think if you have at least a 3-man-stack functioning together with all the Oracle buffs, he truly can be really strong. In solo queue though? Nahhhh.

PA being reported for not having an arcana
Lv1 ganks on PA and fails
