For what it's worth, the idea of clans/teams in osu! can be implemented much clearly now that the game has gone much further in development then when I suggested AND revised the idea. I suppose additions CAN be made, but my enthusiasm for anything as of late is a bit of lack-luster. Get postin' people.

Going through some posts, I notice the negatives and the people just hanging crap on the idea, but lets get this straight:
1. You clearly didn't read the full post, where I stated it was changed from Clans to Teams, I just couldn't edit the thread title at the time. Please don't tl;dr and then come here and post your shit. You're simply making yourself look even more stupid then you actually are.
2. This isn't an FPS where it's "Scrim me bro" or "Only elite ppl!" crap. The idea was to create more interaction between people. One team of people, 2-4, then meet up and play another team of people and play osu! together. This lessens the barrier around player interaction. The idea is to get more gameplay going and less "I did this score <screenshot>" or "I'm playing this <song>" in #osu and cramming as many specs as possible in, or spamming on the idea to get that. It's to get people to play with you, not watch one person. Please.
3. This won't do anything to the community, unless you spastics make it do something. Calm down. The community has, and will continue to remain, divided. Tablets vs Mouse. Standard vs <mode>. <playstyle> vs <playstyle>. <country> vs <country>. Stop being so melodramatic. You sound like someone who's afraid to change their roll of toilet paper because you're afraid the empty roll will rebel and cause your full rolls to refuse movement.
4. If you're a self centred prick and are going to put your 2 cents in against my comments: I don't check the forums often. As I said, 4 months and a bit was probably the last time I came to the forums, so you're wasting your efforts.

I highly doubt the community is much too small for this idea.
So its been ages since ive looked at osu! forums or played osu!, tho i've slowly came back to beat my friend (who has out-ranked me now).
After reading this feature request (i never knew about this until i saw the star count and wondered o.O wonder what this is about..) it sounds like a really neat idea! +1 support from me!

This would need to be calculated in a ratio to make it fair that the clan as a whole contributes instead of just 1 player in a clan. That way it can be even?

Clans require groups of people from a few people to tens, so probably best get all functioning of this done, then until at a certain time point of the game where there are a huge amount of people actively playing, then this should be released.

Just an add-in for all the people who want "Requirements" to join a clan... Doesn't this game make it so that you can only have one account... and not 5. SO... I believe if 5 noobs want to start playing Osu! together, they should be able to immediately make a clan with each other. It is obvious that they won't be jumping into ranked games... Since this idea is promoting "fun" and wants to bring a goal to the members of the clan... why restrict them? If 5 noobs want to make a clan and then TOGETHER practice to get better then they should be allowed to, it is a fair goal. They shouldn't have to know a level 90 player in order to make one. That would require the noob player to have friends that are way higher level and way more skilled... this would promote LESS team play BECAUSE the higher player will not want to play 1-2 star songs, no offense. I read a lot of people saying "OH!, but this would be a great way for experienced players to help lower level, beginner players. My response to this... Just no. No matter how much you want to help your friend... you simply can't. Osu! is about playing a lot and getting use to your (mouse/tablet) in order to better play. It also involves learning how to sight read (being able to ready changes in BPM, and read higher BPMs in general. Also being able to read patterns, etc.). So I can't see how being forced to team with someone higher level would be beneficial. Personally... when I started this game... I wanted to play with with people who weren't as skilled. SO! This idea is great but don't level / skill limit team creation. - Also... CALL IT TEAM. SQUADS IS FOR FPS GAMES!

not sure if its been suggested, but if we're doing clan rankings, maybe it would either be the average pp of the players in the clan or the combined pp of everyone in the clans that decide the ranking, or both (kind of like how we used to have ranked score's ranking and total score ranking)

The problem is that since the link was posted, nothing has changed at all. He didn't even say anything about it.
I think he just froze this idea without any announcement. At least he could reply here once again, 1 time per 3 years.

I think that this could be the first step into making the game more of a competitive one. Such as the games in e-sports. By making teams/clans , or whatever you want to call them. You can even get companies that have other game teams, and organize their own osu teams, perhaps organize tourneys and make this a really competitive game, where the top players will be fought for and even get paid to be a part of a team.
Also with the implementation of this, please add the feature to make custom #channels , so we can communicate with our teammates to plan strategies, etc.
If you want an example of this, would be in starcraft 2 , which in where you type a channel name, it instantly creates, or joins you into it.

I think that having clans in Osu! is quite a strange suggestion but might just work. There is one thing, how would people be able to put a clan tag in their name without getting supporter and changing it like that?
If you were to find a solution for this one small issue I would be all for the idea but for now im just not sure about this.

yes.. that is a solution for this but... if you change your name to include your clan tag, and in 2 or 3 months (just an example) you decide to drop the clan or leave it.... the single solution to your name is send a mail requesting the changing for your previous name, but you can not change your name anymore if you want to make it later[- Nightmare -] wrote:

I understand where your coming from but doesn't that idea sound a little bit fussy. If we got Clans at least make a different option so you can have a change name (Supporters only) and then have the option of adding/removing clan tags to avoid any confusion?Loli Master wrote:

Why you need to change ur name if u could add a clan/team flag or icon?
So in my opinion, if u joined a team/clan there will be a small clan/team flag or icon beside your name (in-game)
and if its on the forum the clan/team flag or icon will displayed beside the country flag
and if the cursor pointing to the flag/icon it will display the name of the team/clan
