You'd totally need to disable mc.ppy.sh for such a system to really work well. Otherwise there's no real point to random spawns since you'll know exactly where everybody is anyways.

If by mc.ppy.sh you mean the map, I don't see the problem. Blow it into dust! (It counts as a plugin too)

A good one seems to be http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/mywarp/ as it has limits to prevent overuse. Doesn't seem to have economy built in though.

Usually maps should only be changed when it gets saturated/old or mc changes terrain drastically. 1.4 only added witch huts and villages with new crops, and this map is still young imo

I'm indifferent to it, but it's definitely not necessary.

One more way to start all over is also to just abandon all your stuff and move to somewhere else on the map to start afresh. Pretty sure Azure's doing just that.

i spent four hours last night trying to fix the issue with towny and just gave up, the devs are going to have to do something about it since they actually know what they're looking for.

the towny tables are safely backed up on my own harddrive and they're fully intact, so it's just a matter of getting the stupid thing working again.

So you've informed the devs that there are errors? I think I actually see some servers with working towny when I google, so I don't know if the devs know that they have to fix something.

By the way, can withers be spawned and if so, do they cause block damage? I want a beacon, but I don't want to try and lose the 3 skulls I hunted so long for if it goes poof like in Peaceful.

Why the second Wither? Because the first one fucking blew up its star after it died.


How to defeat the Wither easily:
1. Get Full Protection Armor
2. Drink Regeneration Potion
3. Spawn Wither in a cave, not on the surface.
4. ???

Might want to wait a while before updating, this "safeguard" seems to force plugins to make changes and flat out preventing them from running if it's not updated. Wouldn't want something like lwc caught in the safeguard.

That's why I felt a bit iffy with this one. But the other thing is that the plugins themselfs might be coded in a lazy manner, or the creator of the plugins didn't do the necessary changes over time which could also be the reason why towny broke soo badly.

Like I said, Towny seems to have worked for like every other server but ours for some reason. I guess there's a smaller chance of it breaking again, because now Towny devs actually know they have to change stuff. Even though I much prefer griefprevention

the towny support team has no fucking idea what they're doing and I'm getting very tired of spoonfeeding them information which is clearly visible in the information i have already posted them. towny does not work with our configuration and you can either somehow manage to fix it yourself or deal with the fact that we're not going to have it until this shit is fixed.

I think we should give the server a night or two. I'm getting a lot of instablity and excessive ping counts (peaked at 400 and up).

So I noticed there's #minecraft now.
But whatever is typed on dynamap chat is not shown on #minecraft, and vice versa.
Is there any way to fix this?

the only way towny is coming back is if people are willing to start completely from scratch again

the support crew is insisting the DB has bad data in it and the backups i have also failed (i don't think they know what they're talking about)

I'd guess from the speed of the updates, short coding time, and lack of actual testing info is starting to degrade the quality of the bukkit builds stability with other plugins (plus the creator of the plugins may be slacking or just throwing int whatever code puzzle that fits). If the Towny data is unstable due to the poorly coded plugin for it destroying compatibility then I guess i'll have to accept the option with a fresh start for towny. The only thing that would suck is town size due to who would join, leave, or stay.

Or we could keep using griefprevention which has an easier and more controlled claim size (blocks vs chunks, not affected by number of people) and much less exploits (lava dispensers), while using another plugin to simulate outpost teleportation. Just saying. I don't think there's anything that griefpre truly lacks compared to towny.

Too bad I know a few people who can't figure out that you only have enough to claim your own stuff, not the entire ex-town that was made with the claims of 12 people.

Okay. Now #minecraft is filling up with the immature idiots who just wants to go around and blabber random shit.
I think we should either have a moderator on it frequently, or completely disable it. It's getting on my nerves while I actually play on server.

Also, if anyone has used diamond swords/tools/armors (unenchanted), I'm willing to buy them. o 3o

It was becoming an issue the other night honestly. I REALLY don't want to have to log into osu! to nuke someone for chat spam. It won't be a pretty sight.

It was only in-game login process that was not working.
If you login via minecraft.net and start a game there, they will skip the login process, and you can play on servers. (Given that multiplayer session and minecraft.net are working)

Also, i've noticed the Dyna map is completely broken now as it fails to update for 3 ~ 4 days in a row. I thought the reactor I created caused it, but after taking care of it, it still didn't do a thing. Could it be the bukkit build currently not being stable with the old plugins?

your minecraft username is shown ingame as your osu! username upon connecting to the server - so there's no need to worry about that!

If you need xp, build your own xp farm.

Egg respawning can be disabled, anyway. It would be a cool time waster, like the Wither, as long as the dragon doesn't break blocks. Would be a cool plugin.

Of course, A warp plugin would be higher priority, imo

Unfortunately we managed to include two “null pointer exception” cases in 1.4.6, and we feel they should be patched.

This release is compatible with 1.4.6 and has almost no bytecode changes, so mods that have been updated for 1.4.6 should work in 1.4.7 too. The only affected file is the one called “qz”, which is the arrow projectile’s class. This also means that 1.4.6 clients can play on 1.4.7 servers, and 1.4.7 clients on 1.4.6 servers… so we’ll wait until after New Year’s Eve before we publish it in the launcher. Download the pre-release if you want these problems fixed before then!
If this is true, there should be little to no issue with bukkit 1.4.7 rb release?
(unless the "qz" file is important for bukkit plugin)

Also at explaining how we can fix things.

Anyways, I think what he means is that having a dynamap that is meant for servers with newer minecraft versions for a server with old mc version will not update properly.
So how2downgrade dynamap?

I just realized what he said...

1.4.5 =/= 1.4.6

Also, a News Alert. marcin19962's home was griefed extremely. The most obvious and one of the most devastating parts was the destroyed animal farm. If you happen to see any griefers around, feel freel to kill them on sight (and report as needed).

Edit 1: It seems the town BALLZ got raided as well. Trees chopped lazy then stacked under with dirt. Crops was stolen too.

Edit 2 : Investigated Magika and noticed some terrain changes. Turns out, it got griefed as well...

Edit 3 : It seems Valhalla was hit as well seeing a sign that some soul sand was missing outside... The Villager "village" got affected too and some even got turned into zombies.

Edit 4 : Rustic Town was hit with some light griefing, but doesn't mean it's good.

Edit 5 : Traversal was hit too seeing a missing cheek on the Creeper waterway....

Edit 6 : Even more news. Misao got hit by the griefers as well. Some Farm damage and a destroyed house.

Well, this is just my thoughts on the matter, but if the server seems too "untidy" to work with due to the broken plugins and such, there could be something worked out for starting a new map like from before with being able to keep a limited number of items from the previous game and some form of compensation. And Plugins could be checked for stability before converting to the new server as well.

I know it won't replace the hard work that was done now, but it would completely update the world map to make things more easier do. If you have some thoughts on the matter as well, then don't be afraid to post it (constructively of course).

I personally think we should wait for 1.5 first, there seems to quite a sum of changes including a new ore. Wouldn't make sense to change it now and be in the same situation in a month or so when 1.5 appears

I am not trying to sound rude, I appreciate the work done on the sever to this moment, but is there any person that can update the server more frequently once everything is out (new plugin versions)?
Minecraft has updates like a few times every month and it seems that current admin is busy with studies/work (correct me if I am wrong) and we get updated version on the server when Mojang announces the release of an even newer one

With the current state of key plugins, I think it is wise to get a fresh map for this server.
But I want a few things before getting a new map:
1. No more towny. One of the biggest downside of towny was that you had to recruit people into your town to gain more plots, thus strictly limiting some towns' sizes. It is true that this method prevents abusive players conquering the entire land surrounding spawn, but collateral damage from such measurement is too big. Instead of towny, I think griefprevntion has done a pretty good job for last few weeks. And to replace /t outpost, alternative plugins like mywarp could be cool too.
2. If we are keeping economy, the spawn store we have right now should be rebuilt.
3. Players should be able to keep some of their items. Someone suggested about players being able to keep their items in enderchest and character inventory. I like that idea.

As far as I know, 1.5 should be coming out in a month or two. If this is true, it wouldn't make sense to explore a huge chunk of land before update and forcing players to go further for the said new ore when the server is updated.

Also, if we could assign a second permanent admin (as in, a person who can actually update server) for this server, that would be great too. As far as I know, whymeman is only a temporary admin with some admin commands in-server only, and ephemeral is the only active permanent admin. With ephemeral being too busy with his schoolwork (right?), we should have another person keeping up with plugin and minecraft updates.

That's all I have to say for this matter.

Well, as long as there's enough thoughts being put in from those that still want to play on the server, then it would make things easier for when 1.5 comes out [and hopefully more stable than early 1.4 releases].

When a Recommended Build (R1.0) is released. 1.4.6/7 doesn't add too much anyway, so while I'm still on the stance that Betas are good enough to use as long as the plugins have been updated before we update, I'm not going to push for it because I don't care enough. Just downgrade your client.

If you read dynmaps dbo page it CLEARLY says that there is a 1.4.6 version available on the minecraftforum page.

Well, i've been doing some research myself on how to add modifications to the minecraft.jar which lead to some interesting results like the Arrows Mod and the TMI mod.

I was also looking into the Industrial Craft Mod, but not sure if there's a 1.4.6 version for it since I saw a post from the person making it that they stopped updating and went on to other projects. Maybe I got the sources mixed up, but that's what I found out so far.

I've been playing on a server I set up on my laptop, so I had to leave osucraft for a bit.
Do we still have active players? I know it was me, whyme, and jinx who were the most active players and 2 out of the 3 clearly moved onto something else... (or at least for the time being)

Also it's written by a member of Bukkit Dev staff (mbaxter) so I would put my money on him being more right than anyone.
Also it's confirmed that it's a terrible plugin because 80% people who I see have issues with things like permissions or server things suddenly not working is caused by PEX, at least 4 people a day that comes though #essentials has some issue that PEX has caused.

Best replacement would have to be GroupManager, seeing as you already use Essentials and both are developed by the same team. Also GM is atleast active unlike PEX, which is preeeeety dead, the developer only updates it when it needs to be patched IE for a new Bukkit build. (Take note of the 6-7 month update gap that PEX had)


As for updating...
All Bukkit betas 0.2+ are stable, I can assure you that.
There's' a little proof for you.

Really, there's no excuse at all.

You also have no excuse for using CB++, there is little to no gain for a server that has less than 50 players on at any given time, if you wish to tweak mob spawning then do it with a plugin, not a whole new piece of server software.

discontinued =/= unavailable.
I don't know how mineshafter works since I've been using legit copy this whole time, but I doubt its gonna suddenly stop working just because the dev team dropped the project.
My guess is that it should work until mojang releases an update with better security or something.
