This is very true and I considered it, but I still kind of felt that Shalon's is drastically harder that unless the player is good enough that the song is trivial, it's a noticeable enough gap.HashishKabob wrote:

So tonight I have managed to do the following stream in 1/4 without a miss

without even thinking about it. The rest of the song I played like ass but I am amazed and kind of excited for how I'm finally able to stream longer 1/4s like that.
Just before I played that song and did that I was considering posting and asking if I might be doing something wrong with longer streams, but I think it's just that it's taking a lot of effort to switch my mind from wanting to read an entire pattern then do it to having to read a pattern while doing it at the same time. It gets kind of impractical to try and read and prepare for a whole 1/4 stream when it's 7 or more notes, but it's how I've always done 2, 3, 4, and 5 note patterns. Did other people encounter this sort of issue when learning2taiko or is this just a me thing?

To give you an example : I can read up to 320+ BPM nomod in a 4/3 screen.

kkkd I can understand since I have issues with a lot of 'inverted' patterns where kats are dominant, but dkkdkkkd shouldn't be too difficult; aside from the first don, assuming a kddk playstyle, your second hand is doing all the dons. I don't think I've actually encountered it but I imagine it would only stumble me up about as much as kkdkk in that when I know it's coming I would be prepared for it (again going with the inverted thing).
I think it's a lot about how you try to read it, too. At first I tried to read 7-note patterns as being a 2-note immediately followed by a 5-note, but when that didn't work I just started working on making it muscle memory based on the number of consecutive dons/kats in the middle of a stream; kddkddk, for example, I would read it as swapping hands for the start of the dons because a single note in a row means basically that, you swap hand for the same color you were doing before.
It's weird I guess but it's working really well for me so far.
I can play dkkd but when you start tagging on kkkd that means I have to lead with dons/kats with my left hand and I can't hammer dons/kats with my left hand for too long because I lose speed. That makes a lot of sense, actually, even though I never considered it as leading with either hand. The only thing I ever have to consider myself is which hand I'm ending with/if it's an even amount of notes or an odd amount of notes. I've been having some minor problems with the left hand thing but so far it's mostly just struck me to be that I wasn't properly registering the distinct difference of leading with my left hand, since most of the time leads are very right-hand oriented. I don't think I'll have an issue with speed because I'm actually left handed though, and sometimes I go faster than I should because of my left hand lol, but we'll see as I start doing long patterns more often and not just semi-BSing them and hoping for the best.

Also, I'm slowly becoming close to being able to pass Ono's Taiko Oni of The Big Black. Idk if that's really as infamous as my IRL friend has made it seem in terms of difficulty, since I don't standard, but in a few days when I get to reliably beating it, I'm going to go over to her house and just nonchalantly beat it on her laptop. She'll probably kill me or something since she gets bothered by me actually managing to learn taiko. It will be worth it.

200 1/6 = 1200BPM

if the bpm is 135 a 1/8th would be 1/4th at 270. and 1/6th would be 1/4th at 216bpm.

The situation is dead serious.
Taiko hackers have been proliferating and most of them haven't been banned yet. Multi-screeners' case will be put aside for now, it's not as easily provable as hacking.
Seriously, in a few days, we got told of a ton of cheaters getting banned. But ! It takes hell of time to get one banned, not only because it is hard to prove it, but actually I don't think hardcore and casual taiko players care that much. I'm not asking you to report every foul play you notice, but only obvious foul plays (oh, hi SS on big black standard diff and with hardrock on) that are known to be impossible to mankind (oh, hi 100% SS fullmod on chipscape standard diff) or just too weird considering playcount of the player. (oh, hi SS HRHD chipscape taiko diff in <10 tries while the player has not even 200 TOTAL.)
With more actions taken, we will prove to hackers that Taiko mode will not be a safe place to cheat anymore. If they cheat, it's mainly because other hacks have not been done yet - standard and taiko are released atm afaik - but since Standard has been extremely dangerous for now, and being caught hacking makes the cheater banned instantly no matter what is the mouse movement type (aimbot or Timewarp hack), Taiko has been considered as a "safe place" for them.
It's not only up to me to decide who cheat and who does not, it's up to us all. We may be a dislocated group from time to time, it is now time WE agree with each other for this.
Here, double-screeners are another case of cheating, but not hacking. It's using the game's small bugs or using special hardware that makes easy to HDFL stuff without much memorization of the chart. These people are not concerned by the above speech, as this is extremely difficult to detect these. Thanks for considering this.
I'll also ask not to put any names. If I have done that on the top of the post, it's because this guy has been somehow known for this kind of foul play in #taiko. Even people outside Taiko community are convinced of it. If you're convinced that a player X or Y cheats, please use !report <username> cheating, and if you can, provide examples. Luckily, he will get banned very soon. You must be 100% sure of your action, though.
I want to have these rankings as clean as possible. I know this is impossible to get that 100% clean, but please, we have to try to get it the cleanest possible. Would you want a top 50 full of hackers ?
