Hmmmm, i think this should be apply for people who has more than 25 friends or so~ Because if you want to meet new people and you aren't allowed to, is very sad.
Its better if this option would have a yes/no button, since not everyone wants to have this option.

He wants an option, which is off by default, so it doesn't effect anybody that it doesn't need to. There's no reason not to have something like this.

ummm maybe a Bancho command (like: !privacy <code> <username> , 0 - limits to all , 1 - limits to friend , 2 - ignore person, 3 - whitelist person) can be implemented.
since Bancho able to filter "^" becomes "I agree!" in PM too, i remember about "almost want to have babies" lol...

You are right, only a small % of players have this issue, but that doesn't mean that nothing should be done about it. It really is the developers fault in this case; the only thing this small % of players can do to combat this issue is to have multi's (which isn't allowed) or to just not come online at all.Jordan wrote:

They (peppy and company) attribute the lack of privacy to the "community" goal the game has. I do like the openness of OSU but it shouldn't go too far. I want to know of a single successful community where people have no right to be left alone. It would be like a village where everyone can flock into your home and theres nothing you can do about it, other than leaving.

I disagree, just accept it if you have a toggle button, ie each player's preference, there are players who simply like the idea that messages arrive not non-friends but others do not, in my opinion respecting the decision of each player whether to activate or not. Nor does it seem fair admissions activate an option only for friends.

What about making an hided menu which contains only PM tabs from people who aren't in friendship with us? It would be just like the "Spam" folder that is in every mail.
Player isn't notified when he doesn't want, but he can always see those message in every moment or just ignore them.

This is a cool idea. I like the idea of not having to worry about having the side of my client get filled with PMs when I'm playing a song. Although half the time the messages are from friends spamming me anyways...

You can disable those notifications from the Online Tab in options, if they trouble you so much.

Popular modders can also have this problem to the point where some have engineered /away solutions like, "/away Sorry, I am not taking requests right now!" This can be an annoyance for friends who just want to chat.biarin wrote:

Looks like you did not got WW's Point of his Request. Also, he wishes as Toggle. So you still have the ability to activate it or not. And yeah, there's not just Player which get Mass-Spams by people. Also Modder and Mapper are included and can take the advantage of this Feature.biarin wrote:

Bancho and invites have a friends toggle. Also if I actually got spammed I don't want the right side of my screen filled of purple 'You've received a message...' then you have to go through the trouble of closing them all.

You know, most people don't spam stars just because of a famous player or anything. I'm fairly certain a good chunk of the stars come from people that really do support this feature.

If he's legit then he plays offline a ton and, as such, likely wouldn't have had that happen to him.
Otherwise he's likely an alt, and as such is a rulebreaker and not worth answering seriously anyways. Either way there's no point in arguing, 'cuz even if he plays online 100% of the time and is a prodigy he rarely plays.

And it's probably gonna get the most priority momentarily. There was an issue with priority wrapping around at +1024, but it was never encountered by wrapping around forward, only backward from 0. I wonder if it still exists, and if this thread will hit it...

Also, maybe notify you if you're trying to pm a non-friend whether or not that user has this option turned on so that you don't have to wonder if that person is just ignoring you.
