This is getting a bit out of hand as far as I see. Especially from one who started the mess in the first place.




I'll have to check with Eph since the server is not co-operating with me....

Fixed. Now here's the deal....

I'm already on my last ounce of patience dealing with incidents from the DarkAges town. I don't see anything funny shoving an outpost right up a town's behind that it can't properly expand its territory. So far, i've seen these towns victims of this kind of grieving act.

I had to personally remove the outposts myself to get this fixed which is also not cool. I even removed the outposts near DarkAges for those that were also victims of their destructive behavior in terms of equal distance spacing sorting this matter out. But, in the process of doing so, ANY outposts that belongs to DarkAges that is close to a near by town was also removed as well.

If I hear one more incident coming from that town, I won't even care who it is, the whole town will nuked off the server along with server banning. I won't put up with it anymore with this attempt to start a war with other towns.

Are we waiting for a 1.4.2 Recommended Build for Bukkit before updating the server or is there other reasons? The current Beta seems to be stable-ish according to the forums, and no Recommended is likely to come out due to 1.4.4 already under way.

EDIT: Except for a "bad packet id" bug in the Beta, which can be prevented with regular server restarts.

Hmm..... I could ask Eph about it and see what he says. If the build is proven to be stable enough then he'll look into updating.

Two reasons there are few people there:
1. Wasn't yet updated to new version
2. People just don't know about it

No. I regularly log in, as well as whymeman and sometimes jinxyjem.
(Or, that's the people who log in around the time I check.)

And updating this server to 1.4.2 will bring (some of) the people back to this server.

Honestly speaking, it's more easier to be ready for the update than to wait for it. Gather ores, make your houses bigger, make more money.....

Much easier to do on a peaceful server atm till then.

Make money, all day every day.
And besides, it's much easier to play these days without so many people on at the same time.
(Doesn't mean I don't want this server to be updated. I could really use slime-in-swamp and anvil.)

Psh money can't do much on this server anyway, I've expanded farms for potatoes and carrots, built Wither Skeleton pads, and iron farms for pyramids~

When 1.4 hits and we get a witch farm I'll basically never need to go underground ever again, kinda like an inverse hermit?

Only thing I'm hoping now is that Eph doesn't disable the wither creation, I wanna be the first to kill it, make a beacon, etc etc

I honestly want the wither creation to be disabled, because of the possibility of using wither as griefing mob.
In that case, the star thing you get from wither should be purchasable at quite high price ($20k?)

Then either disable it's block breaking powers or speed up block regen I guess, disabling the wither entirely is no fun.

That, or make its sign a trade for 3 wither skeletons, so it can't be farmed using money

EDIT: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/wither/ This plugin seems cool enough, able to stop it from destroying, and a future update will make it stronger and hopefully not a complete pussy in fights. http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/antiw ... struction/ would be a more "lightweight" option.

1.4.4 wont be out for a little while
Bukkit team had almost released 1.4.3 when Mojang released 1.4.4 so yeah.

Just wait a little while longer and idle in #bukkit on irc.esper.net, everyone gets notified upon a new release.

EDIT: oh looks like a devb is out.

But personally I'd prefer waiting for Recommended or at the very least, Beta, just in case.

I just lol'ed at the list of fixes. Though, I did experience a 1-block drop death on a boat 2 days ago. It wasn't fun..... :|

All it takes is a spilled cup of JAVA to break that much at once. I guess that's the "fun" part of it besides making it work.

I thought that was natural unless it causes mobs to spawn?

I've also noticed the increase of small mob wars at night...

Flickering as in flame particles appear in random places on the screen instead of at the torch.

iirc, bukkit usually releases recommended build a few days after beta release.
And minecraft 1.4.5 is coming out tomorrow.

Can we finally see 1.4 in osucraft? I could really use dem anvils :V

Still have to make sure the build is safe enough to use without breaking anything since it's not like something that can be reversed in SP mode scale. But, we'll see what happens from here.

It seems not many people is playing minecraft on this server. Well i totally agree with the guy who posted his comment five years ago. This server is dying out. Why do no one place the server on the Mineshafter Squared or any websites showing the minecraft servers. LOL

The biggest reason why not many people are playing in this server is because it's stuck on 1.3.2, whereas the latest minecraft and a lot of servers moved onto 1.4.5. We are waiting for bukkit to release 1.4.5 recommended build.
We don't advertise our server because this server is only for those who play osu! (hence the whitelist)
If you want people to play osu!craft, try asking admins for 1.4.5 update. A lot of old players will come back, and some new players will join, too. (I met one person who logged in briefly and said he'll come back after server update) But the update won't happen until bukkit recommended build comes out since quite a bit of us (including myself) have been claiming that waiting for recommended build would be better.

tl;dr: wait for bukkit 1.4.5 recommended build. and no advertise because it's for osu! players only.

Honestly, the idea of that is not amusing. Especially since "uninvited guests" could just go around destroying things in the server like we had before and even go around killing your animals, live stock, and villagers.

As kwak said, do not advertise the osucraft server to outsiders that are not part of osu.

What is going on with the admin? Is he busy or up to something that he has no time for updating the server? I think the server is very stable right now.

P.S. I am waiting to see the potatoes and carrots in new versoin. Plus, controlling the pig on where to go is so much fun!!

I still stand by the opinion that Beta is more than stable for our needs. Recommended is just new API, which a server with so little plugins has no need for.

Other servers claim they run probably triple the plugins we have with no crashes (as long the plugins are updated), and the devs have repeatedly said to use Beta.

i'd honestly rather wait for the recommended builds since we have this many plugins currently:

Plugins: BKCommonLib, ChunkBreedLimit, dynmap, Dynmap-Towny, Essentials, EssentialsChat, EssentialsProtect, EssentialsSpawn, iChat, LWC, osuAuth, PermissionsEx, PlugMan, Questioner, Register, RemoteToolkitPlugin, TogglePvP, Towny

i maintain cbl and osuAuth, but i'd rather not have to fix other people's shit as well

We won't get an update till the bukkit build are verified as complete. I expect the build to at be done as soon as this month honestly. But till then, just try to make do with the current build.

Also, the server seems to be having some login issues? Didn't seem like a restart was going on either since it would be obvious from the DynaMap.

New snapshot for 1.4.6 is out for a mini Christmas/New Year's update, and I assume Bukkit will start making a build for that and leave 1.4.5 at Beta because they consider it stable enough.

I'll just leave this here once again to reiterate that RB is for new API which we don't need, and I feel this Beta is stable because nothing major has been sounded out for the past 17 days

I hope not. I'm really getting annoyed answering the same question many times now...

It would also be silly of them to do something like that when other people are sitting around waiting for a non-beta build.

It's not silly of them, because they've already said Beta is more than usable and they will not be making an RB without all the API they want, and making an RB which will only work for a short while before 1.4.6 comes out is wasting their time when they can use the time to work on 1.4.6

Heh. I guess we'll just have to see before Christmas then if the changes are not too great.

And reading through the forum earlier, one person made a solid point about how screwy the flucutation between bukkit and minecraft builds are causing issues for people.

"Looks like we have a new snapshot (that'll be released in a couple of weeks). Uggh. Was hoping for users to have a little more time to update to 1.4.5, after I take the leap and give the beta a shot this weekend.

With respect, I do think it would be a good idea for the bukkit team to revisit this new release model. It's hard to say that the new API features are more "urgently needed" than just the basic updates to the game. I wrote some plugins myself, so I'll be interested to see what those new features are (like maybe entity interact events for detector rails please), but it's far more important to have all the servers and clients on the same version first. A fragmented community will just lead to ghost servers and less people playing minecraft. You have to keep the audience in their seats if you want them to stick around for the new features.

Can't the map be backed-up, then the server updated to beta to see what plugins break (IF it even breaks)?

If all works well then we get to play on 1.4.5 and I'll scream TOLD YOU SO, but if not, then we revert, use the backup and I promise I'll shut up and wait for Recommended.

There was a problem with the login servers, now it's fixed. Another thing is that the server is still in Version 1.3.2, but you are free to join and play.

The biggest reason why the server is quite empty is because the server is still stuck in 1.3.2, while most of the old players have moved onto 1.4.5 and refuses to downgrade their minecraft, hence a lot of players (like jinx and myself) have been asking eph and ppy to update the server.

But then, that won't happen anytime soon because...

The point about bukkit is so plugins requite minimal to no updates in new versions, and I'm pretty sure those that needed updates have already done so for however long 1.4.5 beta has been there since the devs are also telling modders to support Beta. In the event that they're not compatible which I feel is highly unlikely, the world could be backed up in case of trouble.

i really dont have the time/effort to administrate this anymore which is why so little is being done

if i get some time later on in the next few days i'll update it, but we'll just have to hope plugins work

I did a quick scan of a few key plugins, and LWC on dev.bukkit seems to have quite a few problems, maybe we should try this one which was recently updated

I guess i'll look into any repairs that needs to be done. That massive water leak from the skyfort had to be fixed ~_~

Put this jar file into the .minecraft/bin folder, replacing the old(new?) jar.

Not neccesarily just that.
There are also tons of servers out there and they were mostly updated to 1.4.5. If anyone were to play our osu! server, they would have to go through some troubles to play the server. Simply speaking, most of the osu! players are simply lazy.

If the server administrators are unable to lead the server, might as well hand it over to some co-owners that have more time to spend on the server. They can take care of the server while you owners are busy with osu! development.

You know, all i did was acquire the 1.3.2 jar, then used it with Magic Launcher. It doesn't automatically ask to update, can still play with Rei's minimap /HD Patch (From what I read the Downgraders only work for normal size texture?) and I can switch between 1.4.5 and 1.3.2 at the click of a box. Convenience.
