@Ace: I disagree with automatic killing if wolves don't send in a PM. It's their loss if they forget/don't get organised. Also, on the other end of the spectrum, forfeiting a night kill is a valid strategy (eg. to make town think the doctor is still alive, depending on how you report deaths).

In mafia, yes. I've always thought the general rule in WWGs is that wolves don't get that option. (Unquellable hunger / other excuse)

I'd be in favor of a more drastic case, that in the case that no wolves send a night kill, a wolf dies from starvation. If the players aren't going to be active or send their required PMs, penalize them. (Assuming it's decided wolves can't choose not to kill.)

Here's what I am going to do about this. One might expect me to have the Aliens (Wolves) vote on this, but that'd be dumb, as they'd probably vote for being able to be lazy. So here's how it's gonna be: Civvies and Auxes (you know who you are), PM me a vote on the matter, whether you think an Alien should die on any Night they don't PM me. Majority will rule; if the majority votes yea on this, I will change that rule and inform the Aliens of it.

Edit-in: I did update the Status post again, in case you were wondering.

Guys, I have a personal problem.

My own laptop has died on me; this post is being typed from a friend's laptop. The problem is evidently such that I must reinstall Windows XP onto my Acer AspireOne via USB card (as my laptop does not even have a CD drive).

If this works, I will spend the remainder of the day customizing my XP settings, re-downloading all the games and other things that I had, and re-customizing those. (I will also, most notably to you guys, lose all my Osu songs; I will be forced to start from scratch. I will be very sad that I will cause every multi game I join to wait on me as I have to download every single song they play.)

Either way, I will not be posting here again for probably most of the remainder of the day, and it's only 10:30 AM here as I type this. I have six items in my PM box, and I assume these are the remaining confirmations, but I will not start this Werewolf Game until I can be sure I, as Host, can post on a regular basis, so I will not even look at my PM box yet.

If this reinstall does not work, I will still be able to use everyone else's computers in this house to check my WWG periodically, but will not be able to check in anywhere near as much as I would like to, as when I get to use their computers will be at their discretion, not mine.

I apologize from the bottom of my heart; this was an unexpected and undesired turn of events, and I hope to be able to fix it as soon as humanly possible. :(

from what I understand, whatever alien sends a name to Ace first is the one who decides who dies

that means the only benefit of being overlord would be to probe, and that there's no reason why aliens should miss a day

Updated.

Also, my friend is generously allowing me to use his laptop, so I shouldn't have any difficulties hosting this Game.

However, it has come to my attention that I have unintentionally sent someone's Role ID to a party that was not supposed to receive it. As a second restart is extremely undesirable at this point, the solution shall be that two of you are going to be receiving new Role IDs; please watch for them, as your new ID will replace your old one.

This problem is not as bad as it could be, as, as far as I'm aware, I'm still waiting on a confirmation from thepianist anyway.

Also, the Human majority has decided: if the Aliens fail to PM me with a kill by the deadline, one of THEM will die so there will still be a death to see in the morning. This stipulation has been changed in the official Rules.

As well, there is now a stipulation regarding impersonation.

MarioBros is a new player, so it could just be a genuine Aux slip-up. I was actually pretty convinced he was an Aux at this point, until,

Okay, so "I have an aux role," and then shortly after "I am going to vote for myself day 1." That does not seem likely of an Aux role to me. We can rule Civilian out since MarioBros claimed to have a good role, which I believe, in his opinion, to be true. He was very very active in IRC which is often a tell for wolves; anxiety/eagerness to begin the game. But hey, this could also be likely in an aux role as well had he been pretty eager to use his ability. However the "I am so going to vote for myself" was a pretty big slip-up on his part in my opinion. Somebody not-too-familiar with the game could think "Hah! Nobody would ever think a wolf would vote for themselves!" Until they realize, that people will probably think the exact opposite. Hence his retraction of the statement.

At this point I have no reason to suspect anybody more than Mario.

That is not a very good defense at all for your actions. In fact, if anybody ever says that they "could be a wolf" that will be a lynch vote from myself 99/100 times. If you will indeed actually help the town, you will want to leave no shred in anybody's mind that you will do anything but that.

OK, I will not be able to be as active as I have other games, but I found out that I will have minimal laptop access for the next few weeks, so I'll be able to post once or twice a day (I will have full access again starting the first of September). Two things.

One, Echo says talking before the game starts is a tell. That doesn't mean "ur an aux or alien lol."

Two, although I'm now inclined to believe Mr. Mario is an aux or an Alien, Rolled's reasoning for thinking he is an Alien is based off WIFOM.

Also, I'd love to have 0_o in this game. =]

I don't like how strager is defending both me and mario.

Rolled's interpretation of mario is not wifom - I think it's actually pretty correct. If mario was aux, he wouldn't vote himself, that's a given.

Also @two less posts usually indicate wolf, but more posts doesn't indicate much in terms of alignment. And also in these games since half the people don't post more than one post per "day" anyway the first isn't much of a tell either.

I said that the more you post, the more you incriminate yourself as there's more material to build suspicion off of. Strategically, civilians want to have the most material in the thread. Two, you make little sense. The purpose of a civilian is not to die, it's to survive. Your logic has already been disproved. The two people who have claimed an Alien role (well, MarioBros rather claimed everything) have been posting like crazy (insert WIFOM here if you please).

Wrong. The purpose of Vanilla Townies is to help find Aliens and have them lynched. The purpose of an Alien is to survive.

Aux roles in general also are trying to find Aliens. They have their own individual motives in most cases as well (e.g. GA finds Coroner to protect).

We all want to find Aliens, but not dying is actually the effect of trying to find Aliens, as they want to not get lynched themselves for the townies to use up their lunch they could just as well use to lyncu an alien. My point is, we shouldn't treat civilians as cannon fodder, as Two stated. Most of them (excluding Kuu) actually have some opinions and experience (and maybe private messages or IRC logs) that can help in finding aliens. If we are going to kill off civilians, we might as well give the aliens their way.
So mainly, you mistook my message a little. My sentence focused on "not to die", while your interpretation saw "to survive" as most important.

Goal B: Convince Aliens that you are an aux, while not lying to do so (IE: don't claim aux) , and get NK'd.

Either's a fine goal for a VT.

Of course, there's the players who like to do interesting strategies themselves. That's what makes this game somewhat awesome.

I'm not sure about Two, his posts are confusing and a bit suspicious a lot of the time, but having read Two's posts in previous games etc. it doesn't seem like anything he wouldn't say if he was human.
