Strategy? Kill the pirates!
sesito71
Hey! I've a ps3 too.

My nickname is sesito71 in the ps3 too.

I only have these games: LBP, HL2:TOB, Bioshock, POP, R&C (Future and QFB) and GTA IV.

I'll buy soon Dead Space, Resistance (1 and 2), Fallout 3 and Infamous :D

Bye ^^

Should be getting Prototype tomorrow (hopefully). We'll see how that game really is!

those games ur getting, hold up on em, how about get Uncharted, then save up for Uncharted 2 :D

Also, I was wondering, should I get Marvel vs capcom 2? I've been playing the demo over and over again, and its pretty cool just like the old days :D
+IPwnInIt :P

Prototype, Seibei :O, I am interested in seeing a review of the game by U, the game does look pretty cool from what I heard, but that's just what I've heard

I got kinda pissed because I went online, confirmed the purchase of Prototype, then a few minutes later, I opened up my new Game Informer and saw Prototype in there and they gave it a 7.25 and called it super bland and stuff. It's weird though, cause it looked like the only thing that was sorta meh was the combat, the tank mini-game, monsters breaking your combo a bunch, uninteresting story, and copying Spider-man too much. Doesn't sound THAT bad.
awp
Prototype is fucking fun if you like playing around in the game environment for the fun of it and accomplishing nothing. I think half of the trick is not to treat it as a game, but more of a playground? Most of the controls are so fluid that you can sprint down a street, do a front flip over a car, grab the car as you hit the 180 mark, and toss the car into other cars/people/nature/whatever else before landing on your feet again. Grab somebody by the collar, and hurl them into a sign post to see how many pieces they end up in. Ghost-ride a helicopter into an intersection.

It's a great game if you like screwing around.
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
I liked the movement in the game, yeah. It looked fun to run around, just like how it was fun to swing around in Spider-man 2. It was kinda fun to run around in Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, too. This is pretty much like a combo of those two without the webs, so that should be fun. I actually don't like screwing around too much, but I like the option. I hope it's fun enough to excuse any meh main story stuff, like GTA. Driving around like a maniac made up for the boring, repetitive missions in that game.

You do have to consume some civilians in order to complete the WOI. If you want to do it all in a single playthrough (which I wouldn't advise; for trophy completion you're best playing through the game 3 times) just don't consume civilian WOI targets until the postgame (after you've completed the trophy requirements).
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
Yeah, Nice Guy will probably be my last playthrough. I'll want to consume people for health and stuff, especially in Hard mode. By the time I get to my third playthrough, it should hopefully be a piece of cake (and will probably be on Easy)
awp
After beating the game on Normal, I did Easy+ (so I started with all my stuff from Hard) and did all the completion stuff except for "Beat the game on Hard".

I have Prototype on the PC, guiz. Sadly, I will admit the lock on system is very difficult to use with the mouse.

Scribblenauts deserves to be as high as it is, as well.

Uncharted 2 certainly does seem to have a potent cinematic stature. I'm still stuck with the demo of Uncharted 1 atm because it's far too expensive to merit a full sticker purchase right now.

Edit: Oh, and I just got Polymath and Streetwise before doing the first mission. Empire State Building one was bullshit. (At least I think it was the ESB... The one in Times Square at the very tip.) Saturday will be time to actually play the game!
grats you've probably got enough EP to buy almost every skill already, then. The ESB one is difficult to do on foot, not so difficult to do in a helicopter

also don't you need certain evolutions to get some of them
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
You're not supposed to be able to get the one on the ESB without Jump MAX or a helicopter and you're not supposed to get the one under the bridge in the southeast, but I just have that kind of skill and dedication. I just hope that skill and dedication can translate into getting all of those Platinum events. Damn, they're hard. It's like Mirror's Edge all over again. At least the movement ones.

I have nearly 4 million EP and I checked the upgrade list last night and I don't have enough to get them all yet. Stupid post-Supreme Hunter powers are really expensive.
awp
Psch platinum events except for two or three are ezpz, mostly the kill x enemies using y powers in z time ones are tough. All vehicle-related kill events are really easy.

I downloaded the Wipeout HD demo because it reminded me of a game on the N64 that I liked back in the day and lol I got 3 trophies from the demo. Didn't know you could earn trophies in demos.

You automatically get them, as well as the EP earned from getting them. You'll probably gain a few hundred thousand on the fly.

In other news, my GHWT drums are either done for or really close to done for. With the green AND yellow pad broken there's little left I can salvage; I'm gonna have to buy myself the Rock Band bundle sooner or later.

Street Sweeper can suck my dick. I've replayed this game ruining piece of shit dozens of times and it just won't give it to me. I got 245, 247, and 248. Ridiculous.
awp
What is street sweeper? For all of the helicopter kill games where you kill shit on street level, never lock onto anything. Switch to those mini missiles and just coast from street to street holding the SHOOT button and just blow up random zombies.

Like, don't aim at anything, just cruise and shoot at the street. After a few tries you'll find a good route with lots of zombies to kill.
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
Street Sweeper's the one where you have to use Whipfist and kill 250 infected civilians or whatever. I finally got it. 275. Figured out the trick to it... AFTER 20+ TIMES! I got 10k kills doing that. 150-200 at a time. Jeez.
awp
killing 52k or whatever undead (Dead Rising's count + 2) is really easy in that one tank Kill game, the one in the SUPER tank, you can kill 1300 undead every 2 minutes or something.
Topic Starter
Seibei4211

ezpz plat

beat Eternal Sonata last night (kind of anti-climactic or rather just plain easy final boss) and found out 360 has achievements but PS3 version does not ;( Oh well it's an alright game.
Mogsy
I played the 360 version, and I have to agree that it was alright, but the voices can go to hell and the game was way too easy. How were the two characters whose names I can't remember that are only available in the PS3 version, anyways? Not like I'd buy/play through the game again because of them. :/
awp
I don't know which two characters were PS3 exclusive, but I'm guessing they were Crescendo and Serenade, two of the four characters I never used. (March and Salsa can also go to hell, not that I ever used Claves either).

The voice acting didn't really bother me (McDonald Miller's in there for fuck sake) the only substandard part of that game was the copypasta gameplay of it. New scenery, 2-5 new enemies, do that for an hour. Fight a boss, enjoy some cinematics. New scenery, 2-5 new enemies, do that for an hour. Fight a boss, enjoy more cinematics. New scenery, 2-5 new enemies, do that for an hour. etc. Battle was fun but there wasn't a lot of imagination or variety.

And while the character animation was very jerky and unnatural, any given screenshot of the game was just gorgeous.

My brother also said the game was very easy but I had a really hard time with some of the bosses (the ones where you had to use specific characters I never used, so I was vastly under-levelled) but any fight where you get to pilot Viola is ezpz.

PS3 version had a handful of extra content though; apparently like half a dozen new side missions/bosses/story and stuff. I haven't done the Encore yet; I'll do that once I've kinda forgotten about the game so yay re-experience. Except from what I've read Encore is fucking tough as hell since enemy stats are jacked up.

I played the demo and died during what I think was the boss or whatever.

And Prototype isn't that easy of a Plat. Not compared to Prince of Persia. I did that one in my sleep. Uncharted was pretty easy-ish. inFamous was easy. Fallout 3...was easy. RE5 was easy. Maybe Prototype is easy, I guess. Depends on how hard Hard really is.

random new topic here but if anybody ever wants to play some rockband 2 I play it pretty often. I'm using my uncles PS3 atm with some PSN that I don't know, but I could find out in a second if anybody takes my offer ^___^

I play every instrument every song on expert ;), although some songs like panic attack i suck pretty hardcore at.
awp
I play Rock Band 2 a lot, but my drums are basically busted atm. I'm still kind of at that transition between Hard and Expert; I can get 90s for most non-devil difficulties on Drums/Bass.

Vocals are only @ Hard though. If you can earn Trophies online that'd be rad because I'm missing the ones that require competent team-mates/full band as well as any one that requires a rock band controller.

I hate trophies that need specific real-world equipment to get, like those trophies from Burnout Paradise that require a PS Eye. Who WANTS a PS Eye?!

Not that I have that game, but still. It's a dick move. But I guess expecting you to have a Rock Band controller while playing Rock Band isn't too much of a stretch, but still.
awp
I've been meaning to get a RB guitar; some solos are just too bothersome with GHWT guitars.

You can get trophies online (I'm nearly positive, I think that's how I got my 1m+ score because in this household my normal bandmates are between the ages of 5 and 12)

I think the gameplay improved in Prototype by about 50% when I bought the running grab updgrade.

So much fun~
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
The gameplay in Prototype improves by at least 80% when you get the sprint and jump max upgrades and the double airdash and double airdash boost.

By the way, does anyone know what the Wall Latch Jump actually DOES?
awp
When you jump into a wall, you stick to it iirc

either that or it lets you climb walls when you press O near them but A - you might start with that ability, so nm; or B - climbing walls is slow and fucking useless so nm anyway

but I think it improves wall-jumping control, so that as soon as you hit a wall you can bounce/leap off of it
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
I can jump off walls immediately, but not in any useful trajectories. I still just jump straight up like always. I dunno. And hey, wall-climbing is not useless. I can count exactly 3 uses. Each use is to get a different landmark that you otherwise couldn't get that early on in the game. That's how I get the one on the ESB, the lightning rod, and the one under the bridge. But yeah, otherwise useless unless you want Alex to STOP, GOD DAMMIT.

Also, recollecting landmarks/hints, redoing events, reconsuming WoI targets, and repurchasing upgrades is zzz.

Edit: In other news, Arkham Asylum demo is out. Go get that. It's pretty fun. I'm gonna do it again when I get to my dad's, cause I sucked the first time.
awp
I got it, haven't installed it.

I played it. That's the most fluid game I've played in a long, long, long time. The fighting was just awesome and the stealth was friggin' great. Like, the AI is actually REALLY GOOD. They don't just repeat a fixed track and go back and forth and stuff. And when they're terrified and stuff, they keep looking behind themselves and stuff and it's hard to sneak up behind them and they just keep moving whereever and dear lord, it actually takes some skill to get them all without being noticed. I really sucked when I first did it. Glide kicking is NOT silent and one time I forgot how to drop down silently and ended up gliding instead and got filled with lead. It's really hard to get them when they bunch up and stuff. Jeez, I gotta do that again. Seriously.
lukewarmholiday
It better be good if they fucking have Mark fucking Hamill doing the voice.

Finally got GTA4 (for 25 bucks no less). I still haven't played/seen any live gameplay of this game yet (except for that one time I was high and can't really remember anything except breaking a car window) despite the many almost-chances of playing it at my brother's house.

Looking forward to playing it after exam season's over.
Rolled
I hope you have a big screen TV.

If not, good luck reading text messages :( It's why I stopped playing.
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
Or HD. Or eyeballs. I read the texts just fine on my small, SD TV. Ok, well, maybe not "just fine", but I could read most of the words. The texts are hardly necessary for the gameplay anyway. I mean, they are, but the words in the texts aren't so much.
Rolled
The one fucking mission you get a picture-text message saying "kill this guy."

I had to just pick off random fucking people until I eventually passed it. I had no idea what guy I was looking for.

To add to the shitty text messages, the cell-phone reacts to what angle you are viewing the camera at (supposed to be a glare I guess) Fuck that.
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
Oh yeah, those picture missions. The camera was bullshit small in SD, but there's only one where you have to take a picture and I think only one where you have to look at a picture or whatever.
awp
Yes, 32" HDTV. I'll be fine.

Disgaea 3 has that problem, too. Not really an HD game in its own right, but the fonts and icons are all HD so on a SD they're blurry and in some cases impossible to read. On a 27" SD no less. (or around there)

Hey awp, wait for this thing to come out.

Has all the DLC on it and the trophy list has a bunch of DLC trophies on it, too. Also, there's an exclusive add-on thingy on the disc anyway.

Edit: Oh shit, awp. I just read that Arkham Asylum is selling for $40 in Canada? If that's true, you should get on that.
awp
40 dollars is a good price, especially for a launch price. The game seemed alright based on the demo, but it's not something I can't wait for. And I think I'm going to have to.

Also lol the Disgaea DLC is available as one big package now, $45 I think. There's a lot of DLC for that game, but 45 seems like you might save at best 5 dollars if you don't download everything separately, so it's kind of a ripoff?
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
Yeah, I saw that Disgaea bundle thing. Nearly shat a brick when I saw that price tag.

I'm probably gonna be trading in Prototype/inFamous tomorrow for Arkham. Maybe Mirror's Edge, too, but that's probably overkill.

Freakin' hate that boss in Hard mode. I got to the very last round and died once. That pissed me off major. You should try going up to the...eastern (?) skyscraper, then jumping off and doing an air groundspike devastator right into her. Pretty nice damage and it's easy to repeat if you deal with the Hunters to get your health back.
awp
Whipfist.

Lock onto one of the sentinels and charge. When you're almost within range, do a mid-high jump to either side of the boss and charge the Triangle ranged attack, and then evade. If you've got the HP, do an Air Painspike or whatever it's called; the single-target tentacle rape attack. You hover in the air when using it, so attack with the same method as above.

The boss is actually really easy when using this strategy. It just takes like, 15 to 20 minutes.

EDIT: actually, you're probably in your best interest to use this strategy for basically EVERY boss battle.

In other news, fuck GTA4. I shot one of the pigeons while doing the final mission, and there's a bug in the game where that pigeon won't count to your total if certain conditions are met, which I met, so I was locked at 199/200 pigeons. Lucky me, I had a save file from just before the Deal/Revenge point, so I've gotten all 200 pigeons in my other file, but fuck GTA4. That's 15+ hours of gametime down the hole, at least 12 were pigeon hours. (I've been to every pigeon location at least 4 times within the last week. That's 800 spots.)
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
I did the pigeons/stunt jumps as early as I could. Sometimes the stunt jumps are worse than the pigeons. I remember trying to do the pigeons without cheating for a while. Yeaaah, fuck that waste of time. The only thing worse than 200 pigeons is the AWP trophy.
awp
I did the pigeons without cheating. What cheat helps? It's just, taxiporting around town =|
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
Wanted Down. I could wait for the cops to leave (presumably), shoot the pigeon, find out a cop actually was there, run away, find my place again, and continue, OOOOOR I could shoot the bird, shoot the cop, shoot your mom, shoot the mailman, then Wanted Down and spawn a Comet to take me to my next pigeon.
awp
Oh, since firing a gun only merits a 1-star wanted level (still, annoying) for any pigeons that aren't in a cluster, I found it easy enough to just pretend the cops weren't there. Only annoying part of the wanted level is no taxi rides.

Got a handful of achievements last night, including the 6-star, Rolled Over, and Stunt Jumps. 6 star wanted level achievement is so fucking easy to get. Hooray for pedophilia.
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
Yeah, One Man Army was pretty easy to get. I got that one on accident while doing the stunt jumps. I tried to do one on the Algonquin bridge before I was allowed to go there and got an instant 6 star while landing in a perfect spot that they couldn't reach me in at the same time. Walk Free was easy, too. NRG on the train tracks. Why don't you have Retail Therapy or Dial B For Bomb yet?
awp
I acquired the friend req percentage for LJ (60% I believe, I got to 68%) but never received the achievement/ability. I've not been bothering with boosting friends yet, been getting the others. I'm basically tackling the achievements through a top-down approach from here on out, so I'll probably have all the offline achievements by tomorrow.
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
Just remember that you gotta do basically every activity with every friend to get 100%. There's a specific list somewhere since you don't reeeally have to do all of them with everyone, but that was the last thing I had to do to get 100%. And I thought abilities unlocked after 70% or something. Changes for every person, I think. Whatever, you gotta get to 90% eventually anyway.

Edit: PS: Katamari Forever demo is up.
