As far as free games go, osu! is as good as it gets imo.
Though I enjoyed Spiral Knights, I can see it getting old after a little while.

I'm surprised Team Fortress 2 (and possibly others from Steam) isn't on the list. (Correct me if I'm wrong here, I only checked the first page)
Tetroid 2012 is also another good free game I'd recommend, if you wouldn't mind the experimental music (?) and the constant flashes. And no, it was made a few years ago, not in 2012. I have to say N+ is really great, i just got around playing it again some weeks ago due to bad internet, and i'm almost finished with it. Surprisingly, i haven't broken anything (yet) while playing it :O
Oh also, another scary game, check out IB. I don't know if this has already been posted but i just played through it and loved the atmosphere and creepiness. Well worth a few hours of your time.

Also (lol spamming the thread) Check out Eversion, another horror game with a reeeeaaallly wierd twist. It's a happy 2d platformer....Yet it's still incredibly eerie...It's available for purchase on steam where you get better soundtrack, graphics and levels but the freeware version is still great.
