(Actually managed to get into WoDotA twice with my 2 only submissions, you can get in there pretty easily with mediocre-good moves which you can notice at best from 10th -> 3rd)

Nah, they don't think of it as a beta since noone apart from a select few is actually playing it for testing. The true beta is dota 2 test. It is still gonna get massive updates like before, just that beta is not the suitable word to describe the game anymore.

But it was beta when I got into the game in October last year, where there were no more than 200 players online at any one time.

most of the guides on playdota work well for dota 2. meta changes all the time based on what people see in competitive play, but the strategies are essentially the same. I personally like these guides for playing a hero I'm not entirely familiar with:

Basically you pick the primary stat of the hero you have just picked (or plan to pick), go to that link, and CTRL+ F and type the name of the hero for a quick guide you can have on your second monitor, or to alt tab to.
although the images might not be familiiar, if you take the time to figure out what they are its very helpful. At the very least, the skill builds are usually a good guideline. Of course, skill and item build should vary based on your specific situation, but for starting out these should work fine.
