In more Touhou related news, I still haven't 1cc'ed EoSD Normal. Stage 4 is the bane of my existence but I'm practicing up on it until I can do it no problem. Practice makes perfect right?

I've also been working on PoFV, I've just been playing easy to unlock all the characters and get Extra. After that I'll actually move up to Normal for real play. So far the characters I've liked best are Yuka and Lyrica. Yuka's spread is great for racking up that points bonus and Lyrica has some good spells and special bullets that can cause some headaches of clutter for the opponent.

I found a really good one a while ago. It pretty much had a Fire Red ROM, and a whole bunch of patches. (Mainly the Touhoumon and English ones). Works fine for me. Except I forgot where I found it. Though I could email it to you or something if you'd like.

Yeah, pretty much all of the battle music has changed, as well as a few other things. Like I said, the latest versions are on /rs/.

Hmm, let me think. Following games have been beaten on Lunatic as well as their extra stages, phantasm for PCB. EoSD, PCB, IN, IaMP [I still have troubles with going against Alice but meh], SWR [piece of cake], SA, and the demo of UFO. Can't wait for the full verson of UFO to come out so I can beat that too. I still have the most trouble and am trying to beat Shoot the Bullet. So far SA, SWR, and PCB have been my favourites, UFO is really getting up there though.

On a Touhoumon note (Yeah yeah, everyone else has moved on. I'm late to everything.) I'm extremely pleased that I got a free Level 5 EX Medicine. Sure, the Nameless Fairy makes better evolutions, but having a tank of a Touhoumon so early is a really nice thing. Especially since Touhoumon is such a steep difficulty compared to the original Pokemon game.

This should be what you're looking for JInxyjem. My advice is to not mess with the patches in the folder and just play using the "Touhoumon-15-Eng-Lobsterhime-Touhoudex" file. It has all the cool features except the overworld sprites.

I have the patcher, I have the ROM, but where is the patch? O_O

If you downloaded the pack I linked to, then the patches are in the folder labeled "IPS". But the rom I mentioned should already be patched for you with everything.

Hopefully you'll find a way to make it past Life Spring Infinity - that's a big bullshit card.

As for EoSD, the difficulty of Stage 4 is entirely dependent on the attack style you're using. ReimuA has the easiest time, with only one real bullshit card. I think MarisaB has the hardest time of it, she has to take down three of them. 'Course, if it's the non-directional laser non-cards, you should move quickly ahead of time to evade the homing bullets that come with them. And like I said before, the knife bullets are round, not rectangular as you might think. Swing a little wider than you normally would to evade them.

I know I'm a bit late to reply, but if you still haven't found a solution to this, I think I have. o: Just load your Touhoumon file on your PSP, and save in the game. (as is start then save, not use the emulator's save state) Then move the ROM to the computer and load the game using the game. Worked for me.

Spurred on by Cyclone and Mafiamaster's runthroughs of IN, I decided to go for an Extra Stage clear.

Turned out to be my best run yet - 8 caps, including Hollow Giant "Woo", and almost clearing Hourai Doll as well. Ended with three bombs and one life.

EDIT: What I have so far for IS:
It's easy to determine where the starbursts occur. Just look for a bullet that overlaps the two next to it. That's the bullet that goes the furthest out.

Dealing with the L-R-L-R-L columns of rings is extremely tough. I've found that I can pass that section semi-reliably by focusing in when the spokes come out, then unfocus move toward the center of the ring. That way, you don't get caught by the spoke above you (though you might run into the spoke you're in).

The 5-ring pair is the toughest part of the card. As far as I can tell, best results are going in left into the spokes. There seems to be enough space there. But you have to be extremely swift, and extremely precise.

After that seems to be a cakewalk, all things considered. The last wave can be defeated by standing on the border of red and blue.

Still haven't caught it yet.

An update on Imperishable Shooting:

Reimu Solo seems to be the best choice for this, since she has the smallest hitbox. I'd go with Border Team, but Yukari can mess things up when Time orbs make it harder to see.

As far as I can tell, only the first wave is static, and the space between bullets is just enough for Border to slide through the gap. A single tap to the right followed by grabbing the bottom is enough to dodge right through as the ring expands.

The rings also burst in a spiral, rather than straight out - gives more space, but harder to predict effectively.

Waves three and four open in the same manner every time, but the burst points are always different.

Oh, and the points I noted earlier (that the overlap bullet is the burst point) is false. It's usually the bullet next to it that goes out all the way.

The bullets seem to accelerate as they reach the furthest point, so clipdeaths are common.

The second wave of five requires movement in the opposite direction from the first wave of five.

That's the furthest I've gotten so far, in <100 tries.

I'm not sure if this is good or not but I randomly decided to try EoSD Hard. I actually made it to Remilia before I used up my last continue. It wasn't quite as bad as I would have imagined but I used a ton of bombs and lives on some rather wtf spellcards.

Is this counted as a milestone? When I first started playing I could only get to Stage 5 on Normal with all my continues.

Another day, another 1cc Normal EoSD attempt. I made it to Stage 4 with 8 lives and only ended up blowing 2. Then when I get to stage 5 I start to royally screw up in my awful Murphy's Law luck.

I made it about halfway through Remilia before I crashed and burned.

SO CLOSE I COULD TASTE IT.

EDIT: And the day has finally come. I HAVE DONE IT! I have 1cc'ed EoSD Normal! I'm so happy I can dance right now. It makes me look back at they day that I got a game over on Easy Stage 3 and smile at how far I've come since I got introduced into Touhou. I think this is a great milestone.

*sigh* Well, I was planning on never posting in this forum, but because you're making a touhou beatmap, and you go on MoTK, I'll help you. Everyone else can ignore me and this post. It'd be preferable that everyone else ignores this post actually.

1)A replay of you playing would be nice

2)Don't use ReimuA for EoSD Extra. Fantasy Seal is useless on Flandre due to bomb immunity and ReimuA's shot damage sucks, both from far away and while shot gunning. Use either ReimuB or MarisaA. MarisaB is for scoring purposes only(read:Master Sparking the stage), I believe.

3)Royal Flare is a pain in the ass with all shot types except MarisaA, where it's a joke. If you can dodge the first wave, you can capture the card with MarisaA. ReimuB does have a small advantage on Silent Selene and Philosopher's Stone though.

4)Maze of Love will require you to unfocus with Reimu, but with Marisa, you can dodge it focused the whole time, provided you stay close enough(Around Flandre's spell circle during that card). Maze of Love just requires practice, as it's the same every time.

5)Start close to Patchy on Philosopher's. This is useful, because it allows you to dodge downwards, which means you stay infront of Patchy longer, and it's generally easier to dodge downwards anyways.

6)Bomb more. You may be dying with bombs. Don't. Proper Bomb Spamming Management is an important skill.

7)All of Flandre's cards are actually trick based, or easy, minus the last two.

It should show you the general method of dodging pretty much every spellcard, and how not to die during the stage. You however, probably won't be capturing some of the cards I captured, so I suggest proper bomb "management". Unfortunately, I died on Philosopher's, Maze of Love, and "And then will there be none?", but I should've and could've captured all of them. =V

PS: Hi Doomsday, Cyclone, and whatever Sol/IPD goes by here. I'll trade you guys my touhou skills for your osu skills. =3

Ok so I can beat IN's Extra stage and capture enough cards (everything but Fujiyama Volcano and Hourai Doll) to reach "Imperishable Shooting."

...But I can't finish PCB on Easy without continuing. What the hell?!

PCB Easy is practically the hardest of the Easy Modes - the gap is close enough that some have mentioned that PCB Easy is Normal Lite. In comparison, Mokou is about the second easiest of the Extra bosses (Suwako is easiest, supposedly), despite the Purple Rings of Death that is her last noncard.

In addition, many of the cards are hard enough that even some Normal and Hard players cannot reliably capture (Rez Butterfly, for example). In fact, many of them are pretty much patternless dodging (e.g. Pentagram Flight E, Guaneri del Gesu).

In comparison, a lot of Mokou's cards are gimmicky (ref. Honest Man's Death, Flaw of Forgiving Shrine), so it's relatively easy to cap seven of them in one go, even if you horribly phail at EX-Keine's cards.

And there's the whole deathbomb timing thing (if you're playing Border Team, you're probably using all of your bombs. In comparison through PCB, you're likely losing 2 or 3 bombs per life).

As for recently, (sorry about this man), I got a no-focus 1cc of PCB Easy, which, while containing a lot of fails (10 misses?), does have some surprising moments, like a cap of Sumizome Perfect Blossom (the penultimate card) and a near-cap of Lost Soul's Village.

If it makes you feel any better, I did the same thing. Really.

Actually EX-Keine's cards are the easiest except Xu Fu's Dimension, which is stupid easy, and I'm using Scarlet Team (I don't like Border Team's really slow movement).

As for PCB, I do fine up until the last stage. Then I die to Yuyuko over and over.

Damn, I hate EX-Keine's cards. Returning-Bridge Ichijo is the only one I can reliably capture - and that's not even a 100% thing.

I don't think I've failed Next History of Phantasm a single time since I figured out a decent strat in spell practice (where I was previously having only a 20% or so success rate). I could probably time it out now. Past History is slightly more difficult, but I rarely fail it anymore.

One of my other problems with PCB is that I can't decide which character to use. I suck at bombing if I don't use Reimu, but I hate Reimu's move speed.

bah. i was doing well, had 4 spare lives and a stash of bombs when i went into Stage 5, and then it all fell apart when i got to Youmu, and Yuyuko finished me off
