Werewolf Game #2: The Shinra Assassins
As had been the case for the first Werewolf Game, the twenty-six participants had signed up for another exciting game where their lives would be on the line (which, this time, was made quite clear in the paperwork). They stayed the night in Costa Del Sol the night before, and were then flown to the game location in the morning.
Dawn
The jet landed in the military seaside town of Junon.
The twenty-six disembarked, and this time, Ace personally guided the group to the rail station's presentation room.
He chatted briefly with several of them on the way, answering questions; he told them his own life was not in danger due to the nature of this season's game, which was all he knew at the time.
They were all seated, and on the projection screen appeared none other than Rufus Shinra.
Rufus greeted the group: "Welcome to the second season of The Werewolf Game. Some of you are from the first Werewolf Game, and were revived with Life magic so you could be with us again today. This promises to be an interesting season, as we have twenty-six contestants this time around, and my scientists have confirmed that several of you have magical abilities or other talents.
Now the shockers begin.
One of you has been a member of the elite Shinra force known as the Turks all along, and several of you have been distributed Shira Assassin IDs; you have been chosen to assist that Turks member in a mission to kill the others one at a time each night in this game.
The rest of you, however, are not entirely defenseless. As I mentioned, several of you have special abilities, and for the sake of giving you a fighting chance to increase the ratings, we've allowed a few of you to smuggle materia into Junon with you to assist you in determining who should die.
Oh yes, unlike those who I heard complained about the gallows in the last Werewolf Game, I assure you the manner of death for this season will be well-liked by all: this season, you will be casting Execution Votes, and whoever has the most votes against them at the end of the day will be strapped in and executed in our gas chamber.
Like the previous Werewolf Game before it, this one too will be well-televised, especially the executions. You'll even be allowed last words before we turn on the gas if you want. The public loves a tearful goodbye. ...although, they do also usually enjoy people cursing life or other people...but whatever.
Now for the terms of victory.
Wiping out my Turks member will not net you an automatic victory, but it will likely go a long way; the Assassins are authorized to act even in the absence of their leader. In order to gain victory, you must methodically execute all of my Assassins, including my Turks member. If you can manage to do this, you win, and will be awarded ten million Gil and an ultimate weapon and armor of your choice apiece.
However, should the Assassins hopelessly outnumber the ordinary townspeople...well, I guess you'd better pray that doesn't happen - even that spiky-haired bastard won't be able to save you then.
Well, Junon is yours to roam; feel free to pick up any food and drink you may need from the shops and bars, although we've removed all the healing and life-giving items from our inventories. I...wouldn't try to escape...for this game, we've got a 25-foot-high electric fence with razor wire guarded by Dragoons 24 hours a day. You would never make it out alive.
I suppose that covers it. The rail station's presentation room, where you are now, will be accessible as a "town square" of sorts, but the gas chamber will be very heavily guarded so no one can use it until execution time at sundown.
You each have your own house in town and a map that will help you find your way around; you're free to go.
Enjoy; depending on your spirit and wit, these may be the last days of your lives."
After the presentation, the participants were allowed to begin their daily routines.
Day 1
During This Phase: Free discussion and execution voting.
Deadline: Sundown will be at 10:00 PM EST on Saturday, May 23, which is approximately 5 days from the time of this post. He or she who has the most votes against them at this time will be executed. (Yeah, I decided on an extra day; I thought again after saying 4.)
Advice From the Host: I realize first-day execution voting can be an awkward affair; nobody's sure what to think since nobody's had a chance to act suspiciously yet. However, there must still be an execution, and therefore, there must still be voting. Feel free to cite any reason you want for a vote, including random voting or simply no reason at all.
