Oh yeah, best episode so far. That is fucking phenomenal.

Tried a shot of Rarity when Rarity started acting like Rarity. It was delicious so I had another one. The cinnamon burn from the Goldschlager stands out a bit and the vanilla's not particularly pronounced (maybe I'm not mixing enough of it) but overall a very smooth drink.

When I tried to mix a Nightmare Moon, I ran out of Irish Creme so I'm sitting at half a glass instead of a full glass. This one's a bit of a shitkicker - the rum I'm using is fairly strong (47%) and the other two liquors are 20% each. Made one on the rocks. Overall, it's still good, and the Kahlua/Irish Creme help keep the burn to a minimum. This is actually drinkable. Though I'd advise favouring the liqueurs at about a 2:2:1 mix.

EDIT: Oh boy. Those two shots of Rarity and half a glass of Nightmare Moon have given me a good buzz ♥

Due to the massive amount of homework I was given over the weekend, I didn't have time to watch S2E03 on the day it was aired. I only got the chance to watch it about an hour ago.

My reaction to the episode?
Pretty much this.






Also the new opening has an Easter Egg within it that left me mind-blown when I noticed it. Anyone else who notices it gets a cookie equally-frosted cupcakes.

At first, I was annoyed about Twilight's exaggerated behaviour in this episode, even if it played on her character. However, by the end I realised that the people who wrote this episode are rather brilliant because they made it so that:

1. From now on there's a canonical reason that allows storylines to not shoehorn Twilight in just so she can write her report at the end and
2. The writers aren't actually forced to include a moral in the first place (although they'll probably still do it anyway)

Also, Twilight mentions that her "make random piece of crap irresistible" spell "never fails"...why would she have needed to use it before?

That was a new spell that was introduced for Episode 1 and 2.
However, Episodes 3-26 was planned first and the Discord Arc episodes later.
Episode 3 was suppose to be Episode 1 but they moved it for the Discord Arc.

Judging people isn't my strong suit, but looking people straight in the face and saying "Yes, I watch My Little Pony" unflinchingly is something that a man just has to do sometimes. You can't cure ignorance with weakness or desperation, and you'll be a closet brony forever if you worry about other people judging you. And if people think you're a closet homosexual because you watch a show about cute little ponies they've got a part of the human psyche mixed up. I think you're more likely to be a closet homosexual over something hyper-masculine like Gears of War, because isn't that what being in the closet is all about?

I don't understand how you people can spoil yourself with a video first though, a day before it airs. It might not be LOST or some rubbish like that, but potential for disappointment's part of the fun.

...I freaking love Luna now. Her personality is just perfect, especially since it takes her background into account. I also laughed way too many times throughout this episode. This is by far my favorite episode, really.

Good episode for drinking a Nightmare Moon with. 'cept I was hungover from drinking them the night before. I thought this was the weakest episode in season 2 thus far, but that isn't really saying a whole lot, since it was still great.

This was actually one of my favorite ones. I was worried on how they were going to deal with Luna but they managed to use her perfectly. (I also loved the special cameo from that special character)

Also, Rarity wasn't in the episode because Luna had the same voice actress as Rarity.
I swear, it's hard to listen to Luna without hearing Rarity.

There was a whole sequence where Twilight brought Luna to Rarity's for a makeover, hoping she could give Luna a "softer," less intimidating look. Rarity freaked out about getting to dress up a Princess and over did it, covering her in the pinkiest pink princess get up ever. Luna disliked it and in taking it off, had a piece of the dress in her mouth. Pinkie showed up just at that moment and screamed that Nightmare Moon ate a princess and all the kids screamed and ran.

I really thought it was unprofessional for the author to go, "I really love this one." for 33 and have the banner of 33 up at the top as the main illustration. Gee, talk about trying to shift the polls to your favor.

A bunch of Official products of background ponies were finally named, and it's saddening that their names are different from the fanon.
I guess there's some legal issue abut using the fanon names as official, but meh.

so my goal for this episode was to take a shot of Rarity (French vanilla, Goldschlager, and Irish Creme) every time Rarity was being a bitch. 8 minutes in I was up to six shots. At that point, I wussed out and now I'm drunk but at least I'm not puking violently/dead.

Rarity is regarded as the symbol of generosity but that is sorely misguided; you'll find on a multitude of accounts that all of her actions are driven by selfishness. Even seemingly altruistic actions, such as her donation of her tail to Stephen Magnets' mustache, were not altruistic at all, but spawned from her distaste at what she saw. She changed him because she didn't like what she saw.

Rarity is a selfish bitch. I don't fault you for finding her endearing, but let's not stick our heads in the dirt. She's selfish. Representative of generosity my ass. Spike deserves that distinction more than Rarity at a minimum. Poor sod.

You're drunk. I haven't watched the new ep yet, but her other episodes have made it clear she is quite generous. You're all silly for thinking having standards is being a bitch. You're relying on stereotypes set by other shows; she's overdramatic, sometimes, yes, but she goes out of her way to share her excellence with others.
That's what generosity is: charity. People would probably call Bill Gates a bitch if he was a girl, but he's the one donating billions of dollars to people in need. He still has high living standards for himself, but he's generous. Don't mix it up with kindness, that's fluttershy's thing and she can't hold her own whereas Rarity doesn't need anypony to hold her own, she's a strong individual and she enjoys sharing the reaps of her efforts with others to better their lives.

You haven't? Well, it might help to shed some light on the situation.

But asserting that generosity is charity is misled, at best. True generosity means to be purely altruistic. To put others before you as a reflex, not an assessment. Rarity always feels the need to explain her motives - hardly an altruistic gesture at all. Charity can - and often does - have ulterior motives. A sense of fullness or morality are common themes in that regard. "I do this because it makes me a good pony."

With regards to having standards - that's fine. It's your presentation to others that defines your character, though. Lifting your nose to the air and scoffing with a "hmph!" is as close to a literal definition of being a bitch as one can get. Rarity expresses herself in an aggressive, forward manner and, while to the point, does not take the feelings of others into account. That is why you see her backpedalling so often - to bandage the feelings she hurts, rather than preventing any damage from the get-go.

also, legal cases for adopting fanon names would less likely to be the case (see: derpy being canonized)

and speaking of the 2012 toys, i just want a show-accurate Celestia and i'll be happy.

Some people just paint the Celestia white. I've even seen a nightmare-moon version that looked show accurate even though it was just a painted Celestia.

The moisturizing conditioner has reduced irritability though, and that is a welcome change.

This is now my favorite ep for two reasons:

1. No Twilight

I finally caved and started watching this. I'm about 3 episodes in. I'm starting to see why it's popular it is awesome and hilarious and Spike is adorable.

Episode 7 now. Episode 6 renewed my interest.

Since there's always bias my favourite pony is Twilight, use to be Fluttershy but...I thought otherwise. My view probably might change due to character development and further episodes.

True, but the previous twist with Muddy Rarity was really unexpected for most fans.
If they didn't notice the eyes, at least.

Yeah that was the only thing that tipped me off, and I didn't notice until halfway through the contest. That one was kind of clever.

They also sort of had her horn there. But the fact a western cartoon kept something like that for that long of a time was a little off putting. Things like that are usually 2 minutes tops.

I figured out the muddy Rarity 'twist' because it wouldn't make sense for them to show the sequence otherwise, rather than eye colour. I never notice eyes, aren't I so cool and hipster

However, the last episode bugged me far more than it should've. Maybe Rainbow's arrogance combined with popularity produced too much of an emotional response in me, or the moral's poor delivery, or the predictable twist was too silly (the others coming up with an elaborate plan that could potentially damage Dash's self esteem before actually talking to her about their concerns. What?), or something. I think too hard about a kid's show. It just generally could've been done better.

Also, Quara, source? The artist seems quite good, despite my usual avoidance of fanart.
