[resolved] Bancho connectivity help & troubleshooting

I have problems connecting to Bancho in game. Website/forums seems to work without any problem.
Sometimes it does not connect at all, and when it does only thing I can do is talking on IRC.
It does not allow me to check scores or upload new after finishing song.
Also have problem with connecting to osu! direct. If it somehow works it does not allow me do download anything (stuck at Initialising download).
Already tried running osu as administrator or with WinXP compatibility mode.
Ah, when checking ping to cho.ppy.sh most of the time request timed out.
Of course I already tried adding exceptions to firewall or turning it completely off, didn't help at all.

None of the solutions posted before seems to help.
Could it be just problems with my internet connection? I think there was no problems like that before switching to Windows 7 x64
(had 32bit version before).

This probably points to your ISP. Can you run a traceroute and find out which hop is causing the packet loss?

It seems to work normally now.
Problem seem to be be occuring during 12-16 gmt+2 time.

I also cannot login to bancho anymore, I've tried the ports through the firewall and it isn't working still. I tried turning my firewall off too and that's still the same. This kept occuring ever since the last few patches. It have not happened before until then. Apparently this is what it looks like now when I tried to login.

What else can I do to try and get back in? I really want to play again lol, so yeah. I've also tried re-installing and that didn't work.

Merged into the correct topic. Try some of the fixes in this topic and see if they help fix Multiplayer? Also make sure the games aren't private and their owners aren't kicking you out.

I'm not sure if I should post this here, but I can't log in to Bancho. I get the "Connecting to Banch" message, but it just stays there. Internet connection is fine and all Osu! ports are unblocked. This started happening after the latest patch.

Oh, and the BSS isn't working for me as well

i can not play with other ppl (multi-play), seems the osu! keep receiving data and try to lost the connection.

I am using OS win7 64bit, and already turning down UAC to a lower setting, running in XP SP2 compatability mode.

Other hand, I have success one time login when the first day install the osu!.

I can submit scores, see global scoreboard on every beatmaps, use online favorites etc.
But, I can't login multiplayer section, and I always get the 'Receiving Data' below osu!

What could be the problem?

I am running Windows Vista, firewall completely off (I even stopped the firewall service), anti-virus off.
Am able to ping osu.ppy.sh, able to connect to internet and browse websites and other stuff, just not able to connect Bancho...

try ping -n 1000 cho.ppy.sh + speedtest.net
and see if there is any packet loss or problem on upload/download speed

sigh this is really disappoint. how can there be such problems connecting for so many people? I really want to play multiplayer
none of the solutions helped me
I can see that during a tracert the 7th hop always times out. what can be done about it?

Can you post the traceroute output? We can determine where the problem is happening then. If a single hop is timing out but the hops after it are fine, this is not a problem.

today I was able to connect for a brief amonut of time before timing out and disconnecting.

Yeah I can't play multiplayer properly too, it will disconnect from time to time, usually few minutes, and stucked at 'Receiving Data' on the menu page for quite some time before able to re-connect again.

SOMETIMES i can log in and SOMETIMES after playing solo for awhile i can go in. But MOST of the TIMES i cant log in to bancho =/ i did all the i allowed the port and do all the things said at the first post. Help anyone?

osu's "Receiving Data..." but will not load BanchoChat and claims after awhile that the "Connection timed out". It cycles. It indicates that I have friends online and osu!direct works, the scoreboards look fine. This has only become a problem within the last 48 hours as of this post.

http://stat.ppy.sh/ indicated a downtime of 2 minutes on the chat, but I've left osu! on for quite a bit. I did some precautionary checks with the recommended tips and I reset the modem. Ay.

For now, I'll irc offclient, but that's a little inconvenient. Edits as needed.

can someone help me with my problem?

i can get online- playing multiplayer, pinging cho.ppy.sh, i have no problem in doing all of them.
but everytime i want to submit my score, it'd says "retrieving online ranking statistics" without ending.

i'm running win 7 x64, and playing in my university dorm. the internet access are regulated by those it teams of this university itself.

in the last 2 month this problem occurs. i've been playing osu since august in this dorm and theres no problem til this 2 month.

oh btw i've tried to logging in and out, using run as administrator, but it doesnt work.

You can check your client version in Option.

If you have 1814 or lower, you should update to 1815.

I have the same problem as MiniMaximA. It connects to bancho and I can chat and everything, only the scores I get aren't submitted online.

EDIT: Also I have a pending beatmap and I wanted to bump its post, but that doesn't seem to work either. A message box pops up after a while saying it failed.

EDIT2: For now, using a VPN seems to solve the problem temprorarily. I guess it is my connection's fault somehow. Any solution other than having to connect to a VPN server would be appreciated since I won't have access to it all the time.

i've tried that too, and osu works well behind vpn

but the worst thing is, my isp (university's) blocking all the proxy/vpn that i've tried to use. idkwhy- so i'll really appreciate solutions other than playing through vpn. thanks in advance.

My problem seems to have magically disappeared today. I'm having no problem without VPN right now, so it makes me wonder where the problem truly lies.

Hey guys.
Ok here is my problem: I am logged into the OSU! Game but mu icon doesnt appear and the bar isnt filled by how much xp or what ever it is fills it.It says Loading stats where my level and all that would be. At the bottom of the screen it says
Connection failed retrying in 30seconds. It then says Connection failed. Hit Shift F1 for status. I did that and it took me to the Twitter page.

I have tested my packet loss. The first one came up with

Packets sent = 1000. Received 998, Lost = 2 <0% loss>

And I am running a different one for Packet Loss at the moment.

Aprox. 156ms. Max = 436ms and Average is 161ms

Basicly I am logged in my icon and level stuff aint loading and I cant get on Multi - Player
A message pops up when I try to get onto Multi - Player saying You must Login to Bancho and be connected before playing online.

If anyone can help me please do :)

I keep getting connection failed, retrying in 30 seconds when trying to log in. then after that it says connection failed, press shift-f1 for details. Nothing I've tried so far is working. I'm on XP.

My problem has fixed its self now. When I opened OSU! the Updater loaded it's self up. Once I clicked to open OSU! again I saw that my stats
had loaded and I could access Multiplayer again :D.

I just keep CYCLING! Seriously raging right now.

Can't play multiplayer. Can't get my rank up! Can someone fix Bancho?

I've updated, I've restarted--for some reason Osu! just doesn't want me to keep connected for longer than some amount of minutes. Then I go right to "Connection restarting!" and "Press F1!" Joyous joy.

Wasn't like this until today. What have I done to you Bancho!?

I've the same problem than xokolade. I stopped playing the game for some time. Then once I wanted to play it again it made me to update Osu! and I just updated it. After that I tried to log-in in the game and for some reason I couldn't. I even tried re-installing frameworks on my SO (7 Home Premium), and re-installing the game itself, hence nothing of this worked and I still can't log in the game. I followed the thing in the very first post of the thread and still can't log in...

It could be your game is stuck in an older version. At least this is what happened to me after running the fix option in the installer. And I managed to fixed it by re-installing the game.

Go to options and check the upper right corner for your game version. The latest should be b1815. If for some reason your version is b1814 or older, try running the updater. If it doesn't work, use the installer to uninstall the game and re-installing. Your game skins and songs will be preserved so no need to make backups. Hopefully this works.

Likely something on your PC or network is stopping it. Post the full error message at least?

I know this is probably a no-go but I just moved into University Halls and I can no longer connect to Bancho - The university block p2p so people can't torrent but I didn't realise until today that it stopped me logging into Bancho. I can't change what the uni has blacklisted - I was just wondering if there is any other way around this?

Hello there.

Well I have a problem with my score submition, it has been about 12 days today, but when I play and try to submit my score it just never ends to load, so I can't level up or score, the strange thing here is that I can go to multiplayer and everuthing else, but I just cant score (on almost all the maps)

I tried with another account and it was the same, I also tried with my dns server, and some more things, but nothing happened.

It'll be great if someone can help me with this, ._. thanks

I'm not sure how long this problem was, but I just noticed it last week. I have auto-login enabled in Osu, and I suddenly can't login when I start up the game. It gets stuck in the "logging in" text at the bottom. I tried signing out, and signing in again, and now it says "Connecting to server....." and it doesn't end. I repaired Osu installation and now it tells me "Connecting to Bancho" then "Can't connect. Retry in 30 secs."

Any idea where this problem stems from? All I did Osu-related for the past week is copying some of the mp3 files from the beatmaps folder into another folder in my harddrive.

I tried disabling my firewall, but it still won't connect.

This is what it shows, it never progresses from that (image attached):

Mmh okay here's my problem. The game won't let me connect to bancho. It keeps trying to log me in eternally. It isn't a firewall problem, I didn't encounter this problem after a year of use. I think that it's because I changed my password while being logged into the game and it kept saying "wrong password". So eventually I logged off but when I tried to log in again it won't let me. I changed my password numerous times again, reinstalled the game, disabled my firewall but nothing helps.

If someone could explain to me the nature of this problem >:( .

Same problem here. I would like a solution, I like to chat. Also, I can't connect to the irc, but my internet is just fine, I ran some internet tests.

EDIT : Troubleshooting info : Repairing osu, reinstalling osu, restarting internet modem, and disabling firewall. None of these worked.

Now, about 5 minutes imma can't login in..

Tracert to cho.ppy.sh and osu.ppy.sh is normally, no block-software installed. Any solutions with this?

I can't login to bancho BUT I can see scores and comments. (why does this always happen during weekends? Ruining my weekends of otaku and osu! filled fun :<)

Too bad,Its the weekends too,who wants to predict this is gonna be the same thing that happened just last month?
(I can still get map ranks,like if I wanted to get rank #40 on a map I could go do it right now.)

Same problem. Bancho keep kickin' me out every 10 mins and showing "connection timed out", but I can see my friends and use internet like any other day (this happens since 2 months)

Bancho is not working for me ingame (infinite log in). I have never had a problem with it in the past and I have the correct ports forwarded. This started about 5 hours ago and I saw nothing else posted on this forum or on osu!status.

Edit: after about a day of not being able to log onto bancho the issue seems to have resolved itself. I was even able to log on via mirc so i have no idea what caused my problems.

Hi, I've had a problem with connectiivity ever since I arrived at my uni. Most multiplayer games work over the uni internet, including steam, but osu does not work, it is permanently stuck in the 'connecting to bancho' phase whenever I turn it on. Also in case it is a clue, Super Meat Boy gives an error trying to connect to the sql server. Perhaps I should ask the IT service what the **** they're doing?

I hate this.. I wanted to play online with a person.. who is really important for me... but the Bancho didn't allow me.......... when it will finally work? I hate this...

I hate this.. I wanted to play online with a person.. who is really important for me... but the Bancho didn't allow me.......... when it will finally work? I hate this...
you can't do anything just wait till it's fixed ok~?

Yes, that issue, but now when i tried to re-log (logging in and out) it won't log me in.
Oh well, I could still play and edit maps, no problems.

I think this should be in FAQ. I had both ports blocked. Now everything works fine. :)

I can't connect to my account. A small window pops up at the bottom of the osu! window. It says there: "Connection failed.Retrying in 30 s". It always does that.We have an internet connection and there isn't anything wrong with it when i surf. I'm opening osu! in my guest account. Does this have something to do with my prob? By the way, I can open osu! in the other accounts. :?

Is there some sort of techinal issues on osu in-game log-in atm, or am I just having some bug or something? Really annoying ^^ When I try to log in, it keeps saying "Logging in" and after like 5 minutes it says wrong password and then tries to log in again. Im certainly sure that I wrote my password right cuz I tried it like 10 times.

okay so i can't play multi player cuz it keeps saying that it's receiving data, but it won't stop saying that. i'm a little irritated with it because I really want to play with friends but when I click on 'multi' it says I have to be signed into bancho and be connected, in which it won't let me do either. :/

Now this is a weird problem i've got... i've been playing this game for only 5 days or so and I could go 2 days playing multi no problems whatsoever, however I can't play Osu online properly anymore as of now. It even causes my computer to disconnect from my router's signal and I have to reconnect again (note: this only happens with Osu)
I've made exceptions on malwarebytes and firewall, but no success. I've also tried logged in again.

Any ideas?

edit: I can confirm once I boot up Osu my internet is gonna disconnect.
