I can really feel the anime girl's deadly aura through the background thumbnail. But I am protected from its effects, and do you know why that is? Because I organize my socks. In my dresser drawers I have a system to organize my socks for both easy access and aesthetic purposes. Now let me start this off by saying that YES, I do keep all my socks in one drawer. I am not an absolute madman that would split sock piles throughout multiple drawers. That would be borderline crazy. So I think it is important to talk about this organizing process as a circular cycle.
Doing my laundry: I gotta make sure that when I am taking off my socks for laundry, I don't have them inside-out. You see, usually when I take my socks off I just throw them in my laundry basket. But if I pay careful attention instead of rolling down the sock, I can slide the sock off instead. This makes sure that the sock is still right-side-out. Anyways, by making sure that my socks aren't inside-out, when I complete a load of laundry I won't have to worry about messing with the socks to fix it. Once the laundry is done, then I can move onto the next step.
Sorting the socks: This next step is where the magic happens, I don't even have to open my dresser drawers yet. When I take the socks out of the drying machine, they are bound to be all mixed up. Now is when I create piles of matching socks. Obviously when I get a two-pair of socks, I can fold them together. You guys might be a little bit new to this process, so I suggest following the renowned life-style author Marie Kondo(近藤麻理恵)'s process https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1hj5o-v-aI . So anyways, when I finish this, I should have piles of folded socks in similar groups.
Organizing the socks in the drawer: I personally think that there are three important factors to consider while sorting socks. I personally believe that they should be sorted in the following order: Length -> Color -> Design. So length first, then color, then the overall design of the sock. Now for the physical space inside your drawer, it is up to you whether you want to do big-endian or little-endian. Do you want the length organized from back to front, or front to back? I personally think that Long length in the back and then short length in the front is ideal. This is just my personal opinion though, and it shouldn't affect your own organizing system. I think that having rows of similar lengths grouped together by color is ideal. I found an image online that might help you visual this. https://i.imgur.com/nQeF1aX.png However in this example, they went with horizontal color striping instead of vertical. Still looks nice though.
Wearing the socks: The most important part. The entire purpose of buying and owning socks is for this one crucial step. Put those bad boys on your feet, and get a move on :)
This concludes my discussion about sock organization, if you have any comments or concerns, feel free to reply to this threads. Thanks!
