Given that the request for an API has been denied, what is the current view on scraping data from the website itself to provide a de facto API? The use case for this particular thing I have in mind is just providing a !stats trigger on a non official IRC network. Assuming it has proper rate limiting etc., it shouldn't be much more intensive than a user looking (and be better if I bother implementing caching), and it won't be loading images etc.
Is this likely to get my IP banned, or what are the rules regarding this?

In the case that this isn't allowed, can the request for an API (hint: json <3) be reopened or what?

this could be useful in an irc channel I know, support.

I'd prefer you request the features you want to see and they are implemented on the osu! site. I am 100% against scraping and have no plans of opening an API.

Consequences will likely be blacklisted IPs assuming I notice.

Fair enough, made a feature request - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6254 - as well as an offer to write it myself since you said you had no plans to write it yourself (assuming you're willing to give me a schema or something to work off, figure it can be part of the opensource components etc).
