Scrollbar instead of Next page buttons at Online Ranking [added]

So instead of the next button shown on that picture, I'm thinking osu! would be better off with a scrollbar, a similar one used for navigating through all of your beatmaps.

Pressing buttons is something most people don't do. They'd rather scroll when it comes to multiple pages of things.

They can be cumbersome, so top and bottom buttons should be implemented.

People behind rank 6 would benefit from this.

Please come up with suggestions and criticism for this feature request.

I think that would probably mess up the scroll wheel to scroll through the song list, other than that, i personally prefer the previous/next buttons

No. You have to place your cursor on the Online Rankings in order for you to scroll.
Much like when you place the cursor on the online rankings it brings you to the beatmap you're listening to if you've scrolled away somewhere.

Yeah I hate pressing that damn arrow X fking times to get to see the other pages.

Edit: I hope this does not get denied simply because sakura hana thinks it is unnecessary, or that it's not to her preference.

But, how many ranks will it contain? If ALL scores were to be loaded, it would take a very long time to show all of them, especially for Standard mode.

How about showing from #1 (obvious) to #100? Or #125/#150/#200?

(with the scrollbar)

let's just keep the same amount as it already is. there must be a reason to why it's only top 40 in-game and 50 at the website.

Not too bothered by them actually, I only find the buttons too small and cramped.

^is it better to use the mouse scroll wheel here, with the addition of the scroll bars?
(visualize it like the ones in the song selection, but in the scoreboard)

example:

Way to take things into different contexts, then let's have all forum posts in the same pages instead of different ones since clicking the next/prev (1,2,..,etc) and jump are too much of a chore than scrolling down.

See what i did there?

The scrollbar you linked, clicking on the arrows just goes up or down by a few pixels, while the buttons are like (Next Page / Prev Page) on the rankings, i dont mind a scrolling system being added, but i'd prefer to be able to have it as an option to use the buttons or the scrollbar.

but hey, this is in-game. it's no forum. just 40 ranks. easy to load. shouldn't be much of a problem. i was just kidding about that thing. but you get my point. nobody should use it.

I believe it will bring forth more exposure to the players. Don't you think? osu! players will just bring their mouse to the rankings and quickly scroll to see if there's anything worth watching. for example, there's always more fun to see a doubletime than a hardrock on top ranks. c: the doubletime might be hidden between a few ranks due to a few things, but in the end, the excitement lies in the uniqueness and how uncommon it is.

faster, better, easier.

but they are going to click on the replays they want to watch, so why not make them scroll right there, in the same box?

more people would rather click with their mouse than with their keyboard. I doubt they will ever know they will be able to use their keyboard.

I'm not using my own computer now so I used my screenshot in my flashdrive :3
But please those buttons, it's a must have. (Yeah, its better to scroll but some people prefer using the buttons...)

im sure the buttons can be kept, but once there's a scrollbar in there, more people are going to scroll. mark my word.

I was actually planning on offloading the loading of the scores beyond the first page (already done in test builds IIRC) because 99% of the time no-one checks past the first page. Not sure how to address this request, as a result

This feature request is not only solving the problem of having a harder time seeing scores further back, but also making people watch replays further back too. It will benefit both the players and the viewers. Players get more recognising by viewers finding more excitement further back where they can find a player they know or an awesome playthrough.

We have to decrease the 99% to as little as possible. Improving what's not being used is always better than moving it away in the corner where even less people will find it.

Why would people want to watch the lower replays? I can understand if they want to see no-mod plays, but this will also be added as an option (top-6-no-mod), so would nullify that value.

Friend, someone you know. If I saw you on the top 40, I would most certainly watch you!

There might be a doubletime replay on a very hard map, hidden away behind less awesome scores due to a miss or two.
It doesn't have to be doubletime. Accuracy and combo breaks can always make less awesome replays go back and look less appealing to people.

The reason why people watch replays is because they want excitement. Through getting to know how a person you know play or through watching unique and awesome replays. They don't always hang around in the top 6. People go back to see if there's anything interesting.

Again, 99.8% of people won't use that unless I make a "friend-only" display. I have considered this as a separate option, but it has its caveats. Unrelated to this thread, of course.

Yeah, that replay is amazing. You can even read that many of the comments on that difficulty is on cookiezi's replay ("cookiezi doubletime")

There are extremely many examples. Instead of removing, improve. Everybody will benefit. c:

The friends only display is quite unnecessary if you can remember who your friends are. People will probably also just add more and more friends. People who most likely isn't a real friend
There's many people you know but haven't friend requested. You might not want them as friends, but when it comes to watching them you might want to watch them just because you recognise them. When looking through replays, they might think: "Oh I know that guy" and then watch their replay.

I was thinking, when you're afk for a few seconds or more, the list should automatically scroll down, and when you go to hover with your mouse over it, it goes back up. Like what many of us have seen on other places before. It would work nicely as a guide for users to show that you can actually see more than 6 online ranks.
