[invalid] Allow guests to download beatmaps

Even with this new osu! website redesign, it turns out that no one can download beatmaps from this site without an account. This is obnoxious. Can someone please update the site again so anyone can download beatmaps, even without an osu! account? I primarily came here to persuade you about this, and I know there are many new osu! players that want their favorite beatmaps as soon as possible without having to register for an account first.

Actually, good luck remembering the password you made in a password generator. I have no idea what my password is for osu! without looking it up.

That said, I think there is no point in restricting downloads only to logged in users. Anyone have a good reason to keep it the way it is?

I'm on the edge about it. I like to think it's there because it is an incentive to go and create an account / login, or maybe a privilege, but I don't know if it is too important to keep in either since it is annoying, and can be confusing to those who aren't logged in and don't know that you have to login to download the map.

I disagree. It can be enjoyed online and offline, obviously. I'm sick of seeing a rank attached to my name which is constantly shoved in your face. I often only play offline these days, and it's a pain to look at my old ranks every time I have to log in to (re)download something. Planning to delete my account altogether soon so instead of just being able to download normally, I'll have to find an alternative. Stop hiding basic website functionality behind an account. The fact that the system still hasn't changed in 6 years is mind-boggling.

you can play the game offline, the only thing that this is stating is that to download beatmaps you need to be logged in. I dont ever see my rank or anything unless I am on my profile page. Simply put, dont visit your profile page and just go to the beatmap page to download and import the files.

No one is forcing you to play the game connected to the internet.

You can also play lazer, your rank is more hidden than in stable, which also means you can get all the benefits without needing to see your rank except for in the result screen at the top right.
