Better score on easier maps or lower score on higher maps?

My friend and I recently got into osu and he has been pushing the limits going into the harder maps and getting C's and I have been going through all 2 star maps with at least A to make the aesthetic look nice. Which one takes more skill and which is better to improve?

If you get C’s, you are doing something wrong, your way is way better.
I recommend playing maps where you can get 92-94% accuracy on.

you should be playing maps that are just above your reach in terms of skill, not overreaching or underreaching

Edit: also you might want to post your question in a different forum, doesn't look like you play mania at all and your question will reach more people in osu standard forums
