Problem Details:
My laptop ( Asus Eee PC ), osu! just won't connect to Bancho even though I have good wifi connection.
I even tried to turned off my firewall but still, won't connect and I also noticed that when I update the game, it won't update.

Video or screenshot showing the problem:

osu! version: 20150401.2

Did you get any kind of error displayed when you can't connect to Bancho at all?

Anyway have you disabled your antivirus as well, if you have one?

Antivirus is off and still won't work.

Just connection failed. Will keep retrying. error and when updating it says something like can't update please check your internet connection

Sounds like a internet connection/ browser issue, have you tried changing your default browser to see if it works?

I also use firefox, google chrome just don't understand the meaning of clean install

I am not sure but is your internet explorer working?

I ran into some problems downloading beatmaps and clicking the links in osu! when I didn't have internet explorer, it pretty much happens on all the computers I have used

Internet Explorer is just same with google chrome here, it won't connect to the internet even though I have fast internet

If it's not the firewall or antivirus, it should be your internet provider, i guess.

ISP wouldn't simply block access to the internet -- maybe some services such as beatmap submission, but not everything. My guess is a virus, but try doing this:

1) press the windows button + R
2) type in "cmd" and press enter
3) type in "ping http://www.google.com"
4) Tell us if it could reach it

don't use http:// (nor https) when doing a ping. Simply enter the domain name or IP adress (eg google.com).
Anyway, try pinging irc.ppy.sh?

Since you can ping and apparently

is a thing, then my guess is that you have something blocking port access.

Well, do you have any idea how to fix it?

I think you should [google:1337]reset hosts file[/google:1337]

I'm having the same problem!! My Osu lags because it said it needed to update. Whenever I launch the updater, the wifi connection turns off even though the internt works fine in my other devices. It turns off everytime I try to log in or update in OSU. I have to restart my laptop just to let it connect to the wifi again. Tried turning off my antivirus, reinstalling the program, minimizing graphics, etc. but it still lags and still won't connect. I never had this problem in the past. :/ :? >:( :(

Ok guys, I have found a way on how to solve this.

The problem with this is that my AVG Firewall was blocking osu without notifying me.

I went into my AVG Settings and firewall settings and added osu there.

Then i opened osu, osu started updating.

Thanks for the help tho :d
