Problem Details:
I've heard of an unofficial Mac build. I've also thought of a VM, but they are pretty slowish. Is the best way to play osu! on a MacBook just to use Boot Camp?

This isn't really a problem, more a question, but this forum was the place if you "have a question to ask"

osu! version: 20161101.2 (latest)

I think that the new client will try to have Mac support in the future, but for now, your best option is to take a look to this page where you can find how to run osu! on your Mac.
