make a transparent hit300-0.png and make the hit300.png visible

I knew that trick because I did this to my personal skin

Nope, the new spinner only uses spinner-top, spinner-middle, spinner-middle2, spinner-bottom, and spinner-approachcircle. You can't make it use old elements like meter or background.

So, I've been working on many skins but they've never gotten this far. And I got problems. I'm currently working on the health bar and I can't find any solutions to make this thing to work right. I think the screenshots tell more than my crappy english.

try doing this (since were both using GIMP)

1. canvas size the image dimensions of scorebar-bg and move the bottom scorebar below 1 pixel then repeat the same thing until it is correctly done
2. canvas size the image dimensions of scorebar-colourand move the scorebar colour 1 pixel right then repeat the same thing until it is correctly done
3. put scorebar-ki, kidanger and kidanger down. If it is too low, adjust it with some pixels up and tweak it until it is correctly done If it is too high, adjust it by canvas size then move 1 pixel down and repeat the same thing until it is correctly done

If it does not work then you probably did not understand what I am saying because it does work

Yes, the spinner backgrounds are dimmed in game because of its default behaviour, no matter how beautiful it is. The meter is only highlighted while spinning. Spinner-circle will be dimmed when SpunOut mod is enabled (ninja'd btw)

Just double the resolution of whatever you're skinning and put @2x at the end of the filename. For example hitcircleoverlay is 128x128 and hitcircleoverlay@2x is 256x256.

Remove the SliderTrackOverride: R,G,B part in skin.ini which is found in your skin you are using.

I'm trying to make the 5K have 7K coloring, but I can't get the 3rd column's note to be yellow.
Here's a picture of what it's showing up as:

I'm not sure what's causing it to be grey instead of yellow. The key colors came out correctly and every other note came out correctly so I'm utterly confused with whatever is happening to the notes so any help is appreciated.

There are also some other issues: sometimes, whenever I start a song, the notes come down with osu!mania's default coloring but start coming down with the my new coloring after playing a map for a few seconds. And a few songs just don't behave correctly. For example, the notes in one song are always gray. In another song, the notes fall down using my color scheme, but change to all pink a few seconds in.

You should download the skinning template in the first post and put all the note files in the folder, that seems to fix everything. Osu seems to have a hard time trying to display the default elements when you point to them in the .ini compared to when you're pointing to something actually in the folder.

I have a question about spinners. How do we customize the expanding spinners like in the new default? I saw in one of niko's game plays before that he had an expanding circle so I tried out his skin package but it didn't expand for me. Is it a supporter only feature?

make sure to tick on prefer new default if you want the spinner to expand
and making them is quite confusing if you're new to skinning

make spinner-glow.png transparent... completely transparent... if you want to remove glows that flashes while scoring extra thousands from spinners...
resize it to 1x1 if you want to save space... (i haven't tried this one but i bet this works)

I was wondering if anybody could teach me how to create a skin with a hitcircleoverlay that changes colour. Shizuru-'s current skin has this feature and up until a few days ago he had a liveplay uploaded to his channel but unfortunately he deleted the video for some reason.

The animated sprite "hitcircleoverlay-0" is used for single circles and bursts for sliders, while the non-animated "hitcircleoverlay" is used only on sliders. Handy for distinguishing between a slider and a single circle, and best used if you match the slider borders' color with the non-animated sprite. However: the only size for these two sprites should have a fixed size of 128px by 128px. Using sizes other than this recommended size gives unexpected results.

For example: I used white borders for single circles and cyan borders for sliders. Using a forced slider body color of dark gray gives better results.

You can only change the color the numbers get overlaid with when you hold a long note, and when you combo break. You can't set it to different colors per hit like IIDX style.

uh basically it'd change colour once or twice whilst the approach circle closed in. I would provide screenshots if I could but can't find anything

If you include hitcircleoverlay-1.png file in your skin folder, this image will be used as slider bursts and it turns from hircircleoverlay-0.png to this sprite when the approach circle is close to the hit circle. Only for single circles.

Ugh, basically my cursor trail isn't working properly. I want a nice, smooth line like the one with the default cursor but using the cursor from the Niko V5 skin. Any idea how to do this?

You can use pause-replay.png for new version skinning in the ranking screen. On that screen you can see one of the pause buttons from your pause screen.

How can I add the design in the middle of my spinner? I mean I've got something like :

How should I do it? I mean with which program, that's first, I thought about Gimp, because it's the only free program for picture-editing and it has quite a lot options, but how to do it? I already tried to edit it in Gimp, but I didn't know how to add my spinner center from another picture to this one.

Gimp is good but if it's your first time with this software, be aware that it isn't very user-friendly. You can grab Paint.NET, it does the same job and is a bit more user-friendly.

Here's the easy way: download this spinner centre if you don't have the spinner centre alone. If you want to change the colors, open it in Gimp/paint.net and either edit the saturation value or use the Fill tool. (don't know how to use the tool or change the saturation level? Google is your friend)
Then, open your initial spinner-circle and import the spinner centre (via drag-and-drop or the software menu). At this point, you'll have two layers (the spinner and its centre). If it isn't done automatically, move the spinner centre to the centre of the other layer. You can also resize the centre if necessary. There you go! Save the new file, name it spinner-circle.png and move it to your skin folder.

i have a made a new skin that contains a new cursor and blank images for the 300 beats but there is a small number "30" that appears when i hit the beats (notes) how can i remove that too?

,the spinner isn't transparent and blue like the original skin. it is yellow and orange like the old one.

and how can i change all of the sounds when i hit a beat to a certain voice, i have added a "normal-hitclap" and a "normal-hitnormal" sound files but sometimes i hear the original osu noise at some points of the song. ( the high hat noise )

Tick on "Use Skin sound samples" or something like that.
(I don't know its actual name but it should work at all costs)

Also, don't forget to also tick on "Ignore beatmap hitsounds" while playing under Vsual Settings.
This will only do if your beatmap has custom sounds in it.

"play-warningarrow.png" is displaying with an incorrect color. This only happens when "Prefer new default skin behaviour" is enable. Is there something that needs to be added to "skin.ini" that is not mention in the first post?

Sadly we aren't able to change that. New skin behaviour is forcing red overlay. :<

Also, don't forget to also tick on "Ignore beatmap hitsounds" while playing under Vsual Settings.
This will only do if your beatmap has custom sounds in it.
still doesn't work, when i play this map (https://osu.ppy.sh/s/104017) i still hear the drum sounds.

EDIT: nvm i got it to work , i ticked the "Ignore beatmap hitsounds" in the options instead of the one found while playing.

Read the full tutorial just now.Any lists of each element min/max sizes? I need it..coz sometimes it oversized...

there are no max limit, but you could size it around the template itself.

Is there an easier way to make the score-numbers and the default-numbers?
I'm a bit lazy on the cropping and saving part.

if you could perform a batch action on certain image editor to change from zero to nine and non-numerics, then make the batch command instead. (because i can't, i'm still performing one character directly)

Well, we never got full official version so I needed to replace parts with something (some of them are from early version of new skin, some from old one)...
