I was told that you improve your streaming by streaming alot
Yesterday I played streaming maps for 9 hours, and now my hand feels funny whenever I press keys

Middle finger tendon seems to be abnormally loose at the carpal ligament area, which makes the whole tendon awkwardly stand out. It doesn't hurt, but I have this clicking feeling in my hand which is very disturbing

what do? halp

These are called RSIs, you are bound to have plenty if you aspire to be as good as some of the pros. also, I had this too when I first got good at 200BPM streams, got better after a while.

Still, you should go get it checked, hands are important tools for use in more than an online circle clicking game.

what the fuck dude, osu! is not even worth spending 9 hours of your life

Well, most games aren't really satisfying to play unless you challenge your limits (which in this case was the lack of eyedrops)

Streaming alot right now seems like bad idea. Imma be productive for a few days instead of clicking circles

First of all, stop any activity on osu! and rest for at least a week or two. Seriously. Don't play at all during this time, you don't want this to worsen. You might eventually go to the doctor if necessary.

Then, check what has caused the pain. If this is really these 9 hours of streaming (9 hours, omgwhat), stop playing that long (2-3 hours max of osu!, mixing intense streaming and more relaxing plays is a good deal imo). If that's because you stream in a bad way (e.g. your hand is in an awkward position), try different positions to play in a better way.

If you get your fingers tired or anything take a break to recover, no point on playing on a bad condition, you just gonna underperform and get frustrated.

I'd go see a physiotherapist asap if I were you.

While muscles are easy to repair, the same cannot be said for tendons, ligaments and cartilages. Once damaged they'll give you long term problems if you ignore it. Just visualise how plastic deforms vs metal...

EDIT: We're suddenly seeing a few of these health issue related threads lately. Maybe it's time to have a Health Issue Awareness thread [stickied]? We can start by pooling these threads together t/120155 and t/112014

Relax on and go go go for crazy stuff like Big Money. No harm to your hand + aim practice ^^

I'd go see a psycologist like hot damn.

Your situation sounds like a guy who would spend literal days on World of Warcraft. I suggest you take a break for a while, or start doing some other activity that gets you off of the game for so long.

Computer games are fun, but the way you're viewing them, it's turning into a bit of an addiction that's hurting you physically, which is very very bad.

this brings tears to my eyes

you won't improve in one day. as playing any instrument or any game, its better to play everyday 30 minutes to 1 hour than to play 9 followed hours and then have to take a break because of health-related problems, due to excessive gaming.

edit: and I'm not even referring the psychological effect such thing does.

osu!, more damaging to health than MMORPGs and MOBAs since 2012.

Make sure to take breaks every so often. Your hands have to serve you in life for more than just osu! spinners.
I guess we could edit the tips description then. :P

This.
I sometimes had that on my right hand when I was trying to singletap fast (I still primarly click on my mouse), so this is where my other playstyles (alternating) comes in handy. But yeah you should take a break for the rest of the day and sleep it off, that worked for me.

Well, it turns out that I'm not unbreakable after all. Doc told me that I've managed to acquire a minor sprain...through playing osu...

What's less amusing is that I'll have to rest my hand for a few weeks (playing SC2 instead of osu counts as resting). I believe the stress on the carpal ligament area was caused by streaming with my hand bent around 80 degrees upwards, so I'll probably have to change that

I appreciate the responses. Gotta resume my "productivity" now, cuz diamond league is still scrub league

I myself pinched a nerve somewhere around my left trapezius area while training my single tapping. It bothers me to no end when trying to play osu! So I now only do 30 min play times every so often. Really sucks because I felt I was improving very fast and now I'll never get to my goal of top 100.
buny
you don't need to be fast to be in top 100
Vache_old
Well I do need to be able to play the game for more then 30 minutes if I actually want to get there within a reasonable time.
lolcubes
Depends what you consider "reasonable time". I kinda stopped playing the game now, but when I was still playing I never played more than 40 mins a day or something, because my play quality would considerably drop after that and it just won't be fun anymore.

Sometimes I would just play a bit longer for lulz, but nothing serious, just messing around without a goal.

If your tendons hurt/you get tired then take a break.

It is normal that your fingers/tendons hurt/get tired after you make a big effort, even if you are very good, players like Niko or Cookiezi have had days when they couldn't properly stream at all. That's your endurance and it improves over time.

Dislocated tendons???

On a serious note, if your tendons hurt, stop playing for a while. Don't overdo it.
