You should post it here.

I like Yuru camp. I've been saving up money to buy camping gear and one day I will probably go camping and backpacking in Japan

Shallow moeblob show. Go watch Houseki no Kuni instead.

That's not right. It's a specialist show about a certain field or activity, and the cute girls are just a addition (as they are to many anime).

It's not fair to compare Yuru Camp to *insert purported masterpiece here*. Shows with cute girls without any adversity are easy watching, while the "deeper" a show is, the more emotional investment it requires.

Op also said 'mini' series but I'd need to be convinced it is better than gdgd faries or Danna ga nani first.

But that's the thing. It's not even a good cute girls doing cute things show. Go watch/rewatch K-on instead.

Like I said, it's primarily not one of those shows, primarily it's about camping.
Comfy Slippers
It's widely regarded as a moeblob show. Guess most of us in the dark then.

Something like Gabriel Dropout is an boring and unredeemed moeblob show. I like Yuru Camp because it's interesting to learn about camping. Same reason I liked Long Riders because Cycling was interesting. And why I'm watching Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san, because I like Ramen. Cute anime girls just makes things more palatable.

How does it compare to Yama no Susume then? I assume they are close enough.

Well, for one, GO tries to captivate it's viewers. You don't get this in YC. If I were to make a rough analogy, it'd have to be a generic camp guide that you'd find in akihabara. Characters are extremely shallow, and when they are put into situations, they interact in the most cliche and predictable ways possible which then thwarts the comedy aspect of the show. They're just one dimensional and boring, and the likelihood of an average viewer getting bored midway through is quite high.

Now, one of the few things that I like is that the show is didactic. The narrative isn't invasive and it goes with the 'flow of things' pretty well. Art and animations were decent, nothing special, but good enough to be branded as eye candy. The general atmosphere is good, but nowhere near as great as it's rabid fanbase makes it out to be.

Go Go Nippon VN would probably be one of the best comparisons. It's laid back but relatively informative. One is about happy-go-lucky campers, the other is about being a gaijin.

Don't compare Yuru camp to that monstrosity Go Go Nippon. Go Go Nippon is just a shameless exploitation of the weeb market, and it's low quality all round. Yuru Camp is also much better than Gabriel Droupout. Gabriel Dropout has no interesting plot, no interesting character development, which makes it extremely painful to watch as the whole anime is centered around the lives of these uninteresting girls. Whereas Yuru Camp doesn't have a strong focus on these things (evne though it actually has way better character development than GO) because the anime is about is centered not around the characters but on the theme of camping. And in contrast to Go Go Nippon, it executes this theme quite well; it has a very nice atmosphere, or more specifically, it takes you on adventures, and it goes over the simple yet meaningful aspects of meditative solitude in remote and picturesque places, and then also extols the virtues of friendship and good company.

Debatable. Both YC and GB aren't anything special. Difference is that the former is greatly overhyped.

Neither does YC. It's catering to a specific audience and does decently well at captivating an outsider. Doesn't make it great.

Lmao, no it fucking doesn't. The interactions between characters that aren't Rin-Nadeshiko are shit tier and every other character is practically negligible. They're just not captivating.

Same feelgood atmosphere formula can, literally, be found in any other generic SOL.

Overshadowed by Violet Evergarden. Much like YC, it puts emphasis on appealing visuals but executes it way better, and it was a concurrently airing show. This is my biggest trigger, as YC has an upper hand when it comes to sales and general profit, and as we all know it's all about that ¥¥¥¥¥¥ in this forsaken industry. Real kicker, as VE is objectively a superior show.

Sauce:

In hindsight, people are relatively confused when it comes to shows like Girls' Last Tour and Yuru Camp. A good portion find them boring, but are unable to properly understand why. Deeper psychoanalysis reveals that it just does not live up to it's expectations/hype and it's just as shallow as your average SOL. Watching your standard C/P'd sol characters forced into a plotless premise revolved around camping just doesn't work and it shouldn't no matter how good everything else is. There are other and better ways of doing it, all while keeping the cute, warm and fuzzy nature of the show. It's just mediocre, slightly above average at best.

'Thru-Hiking Will Break Your Heart' by Carrot Quinn (novel) and 'Thelma & Louise' (movie) are some of the best examples on how this premise should be handled. Even tho I'm not big on road trip/hiking/camping fiction, I was still able to enjoy and appreciate them to their fullest. This wasn't the case with YC.

Buying Violet Evergarden on DVD XXXXXXXD
Comfy Slippers
I don't get the joke. Evergarden is probably one of the few exceptions for buying anime B-R's and DVD's in general. One of the best episodic eye porn anime you can find. Partner that up with a high hz tv/monitor and you'll have a good time. KyoAni gets a 9 for this. Anime itself is ok, just slightly overrated. Nonconformists will beg to differ, but their biases are irrelevant so I won't even bother.Calling it shit is just having flaws in theoretical analysis.
Green Platinum
I agree with you that it's pretty and absurd for people to be buying DVDs of the show. I also don't think it is an apt comparison for visuals. I think Flying Witch and Mushishi would be better for their atmosphere and depictions of rural locales which likely line up with Yuru Camps.
