New Taiko Mascot is of course the loli. Also: drama.

the entire osu community has decided to let a loli represent taiko. As someone who does not play taiko but still voted for the loli (but neither number #2 or #3), I have to say that I am pleased with the results.

Nothing can stop us now.

I think we should just replace the hitcircles with cute little lolis, honestly the game would be so much better.

I think the new mascot should give people a feeling of warmth when they open the game, not a feeling of imminent torture and death

But if it comes to an avatar,mascot or a background; it is always a loli girl.

I just cant understand this,if you really want to see a loli girl; just buy its bodypillow or have your own hentai folder in your desktop...I dont disrespect people opinions about their tastes but why would people TRY HARD to put everything every single same thing?

There are a couple of easy explanation for this:

1) The people who ask for differences are actually just a vocal minority, and not the same people as the ones who voted for the mascot.
2) Even when you ask for differences in other departments, maybe you still like the loli girl most
3) Most other entries were really bad


Personally, I really hate the fact that there are 100 camellia maps and not a single ranked map from blackmill. But I also like the loli.

There was one point in the comments that stood out for me that I partly agree with:

Taiko drumming is supposed to be an activity full of energy and power, but the girl being skinny doesn't fit the concept that well, and I feel her gaze doesn't show this energy.
To be honest, the loli doesn't really fit the image of a taiko drummer unless the end design is changed a bit. Like maybe more defined muscles or something that shows she's very active despite her smaller image. And this could be said for a lot of the mascots that were submitted. There were a couple that I liked that matched that image but I ended up voting for at least one of the cute ones because I cant resist cute.

But you can make the argument that it's a mascot so who cares as well.

Ok I might be some kind of loli disliker but it doesnt change the fact that Im right about it.

Because that thing also applies when people are judging my personality with my avatar.

If I had putted a loli picture; I would easily get liked of this stupid community.Because it literally became a psychology.Judging people with their avatars/signatures/profile banners/ maps that they play,interests.Now I dont want anyone argue with me because of this,i wont bother for arguing.Because; rather you accept it or not; this is real.

It is a fuckin image goddammit.I just like the way how it looks cool.Ofc I will change it because; I should make differences.

This applies for everything.Making a same kind of something will get hates.Just like me now.

Anyways I think im tired again LOL,I go take a sleep

That is a good point and I partially agree with you.

Mascots tend to be better when they represent the thing they stand for in a deeper way than just being called their mascot. For example there was a school that chose a parrot as their mascot, because the founder (who was also the headmaster of the school) owned one. Then after he died, the parrot survived for 20 more years and stayed in his office with the next headmasters.

Then again, you can see sportclubs all over the world picking arbitrary animals as their mascots, with no relation to the whatsoever.



I guess we can't have the parrot this time.

Like, I don't mind having the loli as the mascot, but having some more qualities added that reflect Taiko as a mode aesthetically would make it even better.

It doesn't really matter, but it would be a nice touch

You're complaining about lolis on a game that primarily revolves around anime, and therefore there's bound to be a bunch of lolis.

I see you are a bit upset about this. Now I won't argue that superficiality or "judging people based on looks" isn't a thing in this community. You are quite correct - people generally tend to form opinions of others before even talking to them. But this effect isn't so strong that it would result in the majority of people hating on you, even after they got to know you. Your avatar doesn't stand out that much. Personally, I didn't even notice it.

If you feel hated by everyone, the reason is probably to be found with you, not the others. Get real.

Most of the ctb players I know are male, especially among the higher players but a few of the 100 are female and one is on the BNG. And it's okay, since your statement is partly true. But you are talking to someone who mostly chats with more community involved people so most tend to be male. I think ctb is more gender balanced compared to most of the osu! modes but unless a large census was done I wouldnt know the specifics.
