The spins per second counter reads 477 as always, but the autoplay spins faster than that when double-time is on, far past the limits of physically possible...

Normal speed:

Seems about right...

Double-time:

Whoa, that's way more spins! Probably something to do with autoplay spinning 1.5 times as fast as usual to go along with double-time despite it not being actually possible normally?

When playing DT you got less time to spin, therefore you get the bonus faster to compensate that, and even more since you don't really have time to accelerate you get the bonus even faster than what the DT accelerates the song (x1.5). (I'm guessing the reasons)

Basically that's how it is, not a bug or anything.

<-- Me shit english ok.

It's not this way when you actually play! Yes, you get the bonus faster in double-time, but only to match the normal speed. i.e. if you get 350 spins per minute and get 10,000 on normal speed, 350 spins per minute will also get you 10,000 on double-time.

Just tried and nope, you get higher bonus with DT than without.

Bah it doesn't really matter since I can't actually spin at the same speed always. And thinking about what you say, maybe you're right, and because of DT Auto spins x1.5 speed and plus gets x1.5 bonus, which would explain what you say but I'm not really sure.

Yeah, that's what I mean! Not only does the auto get the 1.5x bonus, it spins 1.5x faster too and gets more points than it's supposed to! It didn't use to do that so I think it's a new bug with the most recent auto-spin smoothing.

EDIT:

I make no sense.

No, this is definitely a bug. Auto gets more points while spinning on DT than it does without.

Human players do NOT get more points while spinning DT.

To test, I played the beginning of this map twice with double time and twice without. On all four tries I averaged around 450-460 SPM and I got the same spinner bonus of 39000 EVERY TIME (and also made a bunch of stuff fall off my desk from spinning so fast).

Auto gets 44000 on that spinner without DT active, and 80000 with DT.

EDIT: ticketed on sifter
peppy
I'd sooner make auto spin at a random speed than fix this, for what it's worth.

Kind of annoying to not know what the true max score of a map is with all mods, but... not really much of a problem! Thanks for the quick reply anyhow.
ziin
do a run through without DT, then multiply the score by 1.12.
Winshley
Ultimate necro, requesting for this to be fixed.

Don't forget about HalfTime too, it makes Auto actually spinning at around 358 SPM rate

I didn't think this was a bug.

I feel like there is also an spin advantage when not using auto, since I usually get more bonus and SPM while playing with DT or NC, and less with HT.

For example, in long spinners ( https://osu.ppy.sh/s/12762 ), I can consistently get ~470 SPM while on NC for a few seconds several times, while I can barely spin ~460 SPM at most without mods. With HT is hard to achieve 420 SPM.
Also, the average SPM with NC is about 400 SPM and without NC is about 350 SPM, and HT is about 320 (considering how tired my arms get).

I start over-spinning about 1/6 though the spinner with DT and almost 1/2 though the spinner without it. With HT is hard to even start over-spinning.

Spinners are only harder with DT when it is a very short spinner or a ninja spinner (because of reaction times)

Auto is spinning more than 1.5 times as fast. Whether this is a bug or not, I don't know. It doesn't really matter.

This is definitely still a bug, it didn't use to do this way back in 2010 from what I hear... I'd confirm it, but peppy's already said no. Maybe he'll change his mind?
