Problem Details:
When accessing the website (http://osu.ppy.sh) from a Tor relay, you receive an HTTP 403 error (looks like the standard nginx one).
The only thing I can think of affecting this would be that I run a Tor relay from this connection - https://atlas.torproject.org/#details/C ... AF01930789

As this isn't an exit node, it seems unnecessary to block access to the site from this IP address.

It may be that this is unrelated to the Tor aspect, in which case it's still an issue for me, I just don't know what else would be causing it.

Tor is disallowed. Please disable your relay or use a different connection to play osu! from.

I think you misunderstand. I'm not "using tor", rather, I contribute some bandwidth to the tor network.

There are a few different ways of contributing, but the way I'm doing it, no one else can ever use my internet connection.

Many hosts will "block" tor, due to the high levels of abuse coming from exit nodes. That's fine. The problem with your particular configuration is that you're not only blocking exit nodes (the ones that abuse comes from), but you're also blocking relays that don't allow exiting.
I understand that if you aren't familiar with tor, this could sound confusing, so I'll try simplify.
Running an exit relay? You should block this, because people can use tor to hide their IP and access the site.
Running a non-exit relay? There is no point in blocking this, as no one on the tor network can ever use this. It's only the person running the relay ever coming from that IP.

Sorry for doing a poor job of explaining, but it's hard to explain without a little bit of knowledge of tor. Point is, you're unnecessarily blocking the wrong kind of tor thingies (with literally no advantage to doing so).

Ah, also, to clarify, I don't mean the Cloudflare stuff. They've correctly configured their blocking (so that it only blocks the exit relays), I mean the additional one catching me (I presume it's done at your end, not cloudflare, due to how it looks).

This would explain the 403 I'm getting aswell since I'm also running a non-exit Tor relay. I've been wanting to play so bad for a while now but the 403 has been keeping me away. :?

Don't use tor.

Don't use it at all. Don't contribute bandwidth and don't run anything with "tor" in the name.

Or don't play osu!.

But why ppy? :(
We already established it was due to a misconfiguration of your server, right? Can't you just trust Cloudflare to get it right? WHY ARE YOU SUCH A MEANIE?!

In any case, if you prefer to keep doing this silly silly thing, could it be added to an FAQ or something? It's incredibly non-standard and confusing (because you're the only place doing it -- generally running a tor relay doesn't involve this kind of ban), so it would be nice to have it explained somewhere (and obviously since Pyretti is here too, there are people affected by this who're also confused). Thanks!

i am also running a tor relay (this time it is an exit) and to safely continue using osu, which is a great and fun game. use a proxy or vpn. osu doesn't need a lot of bandwith, so it will have minimal amount of lag while doing multiplayer.

i completely understand that osu blocks tor, but tor supports internet privacy, which i do to.

and yes, this comment used to be longer, but when i ressed post i got your 403 acces denied in my face, since sometimes even when my proxy is off, it still lets me in.

anyways, use a free proxy or vpn to play osu without shutting down your tor relay.
osu isn't going to remove tor from that blacklist anytime soon, i guess.
