Wrist Locking

So I read somewhere about wrist locking (I think from Aqo's Ask.fm) that you use your ring and thumb fingers to lock your wrist and then use your middle and index fingers to tap with only your finger muscles. Is this really beneficial in the long run for stamina and finger strength? The only thing I have noticed besides slower single tap speed is that my streaming has risen with this taping method from 185BPM to 220BPM and it is A LOT more stable.

if it makes you better then do it? why would you need our confirmation?

No I am just asking if someone did this and were they able to get up to wrist tapping speeds. Because it is REALLY hard to tap fast this way.

Do what you are used to there is no ultimate way to single tap.

That I understand, but I imagine that playing like this for 1 month or so would enable me to light speed tap with wrist.

I am sure with enough practice you could get there. KeigoClear is a good example of someone who only uses fingers and can stream very fast and accurately.

Do whatever is most effective. I still make changes to my posture 3 years later, naturally because I'm still improving, as are you.

The harder maps you can play, the more you realise the limitations imposed on yourself by something you are doing. Often it's a simple change and quite easy to adapt, but discovering it is the hard part. Discovery is experimentation, and not all experimentation is successful. So give it a try and see if it works.

1 month is pretty short term, but you should be able to determine whether something is worth it after that time.

5-6 Seconds of a 222BPM snake 300's. So worth it D: .

If you can do that tomorrow as well, I'll cook some kebabs in celebration.

Got back to my wrist tapping speed in one day. Well so much for hope to get back up to speed. I only won streaming speed from this <3. Although my wrist tapping speed increased by 10BPM~.

Training your fingers isn't going to help with wrist tapping, and it isn't meant to. The method Aqo described is meant to wean you off wrist tapping and get you to finger tap exclusively.

I don't really mind that actually, I am starting to like this method even more so that I don't destroy my keyboard so much (even though it is a laptop keyboard). Although I do notice that tapping fast for over 2 minutes makes fatigue kick in which was never present with arm tap EVER, I'm srs...

I've always had the habit to hold button with my ring finger when I play (I eventually switched my tapping finger to ring and index finger because of it). I guess this is why I suck at single tapping and streams, I never really understood that "tap with wrist" thing either.

Lift your arm in the air, hold it there and tap by using the force of your hand. Play like this for a day or two so the fatigue of holding you hand in the air disappears and then you should see that you tap a tad faster with your arm and you will have a lot more stamina rather than using only your finger. Although since you will have to move more mass streaming will be harder a tad. Even though it works for most people it might not work for you.

Don't do that, arm-tapping is a no-no. Either continue to work on your finger-tapping or start to work your wrist into it a bit.

I don't really know how to call it, I don't mentally notice myself moving my wrist at all but I can see that my hand is moving a tad when I tap with it lifted. I don't tap by moving my wrist back and then down a lot. Maybe some people do but that seems very uncomfortable to me.

Moving anything but your two (or one for single tapping) tapping fingers just seems uncomfortable to me. I started out with using only my fingers and always considered that to be the norm. Didn't even know wrist or arm movement tapping was even a thing until more recently. :v
