Hey guys! I did a little bit of research, and so far, I have turned off the enhancer pointer thingy and also copied some top players' game/mouse settings.
I was wondering if there are any other tips that you could give me?

Also, I have a question: When did you guys start getting at least pretty decent at Osu? Like, how many days or how long did it take you to be able to play from normal to harder maps?

Because the hardest map I can do with an impressive score right now is 2.49 stars, and I can't seem to work my way up to harder maps. They're just too fast for me to even practice/play normally. Maybe I'm expecting too much in just 2 days.

sorry for my bad england

Yeaa youre definitely expecting too much for 2 days of playing i think you’ll start to really have fun/get good when u can play 4-5* because maps will typically be funner and fit the song more. For me i think this took about 250-400hrs of playtime. It may definitely not be the same case for u because everyone progresses at their own rate!😃

Some tips: optimise your settings for best play (watch youtube vids on this) like removing hit lighting, background dim to 0%, good skin, etc.

Set some goals like what maps you really want to pass or get A rank or whatever. For me i really wanted to pass this map even tho i could barely play 3 stars beatmapsets/505046#osu/1074470

Of course play more! Imo osu is alot about recognising patterns in the circles that show up so the more u play the more you can recognise in different maps. A good way is to figure out why u missed!
Hope that helps 👍

yeah; 2 days isn't all that much, 3.5 hours isn't all that much, and you'll also just have a much easier time improving if you play a variety of maps instead of just wanpachi's normal diff on ego rock long xd

Yes bad england

Yes, you are expecting waaaaaaay too much for just 2 days of play. Don't worry about how fast you're improving and just play. Complete newbies like you do not need anything else distracting you right now.

When you start to decently play mid/high 3* (3.5-4* with 95%+ acc), then we can start talking about more specific advice.

I mean define "decent"

Learning curve varies heavily from person to person, from my experience I know people getting S ranks on 3 star maps from day1 and after several WEEKS

The tips/advices I could give you depend on your goals in osu.
Do you want to climb the top or just enjoy some good fun maps on average level?
It was already mentioned that "all the fun" is around 4.0-5.0 star rating. You can reach this difficulty by doing whatever really and just practicing harder and harder maps

However here are some general tips. Feel free to ignore them and you'll still be just fine:

1. Use a drawing tablet instead of mouse. Wacom CTL-472 is recommended
2. Adjust your volume so Music is quieter than hitsounds
3. Switch from default skin to something with minimum distractions, including hitsounds
4. I assume you already did but set your background dim to 100%
5. Press F10 to disable mouse buttons and use Z/X on keyboard instead
6. Alternate your middle and index finger on Z and X instead of pressing single button with one finger. It will build a great habit for the future
7. Try to play different maps. In terms of song genre and gameplay
