[Archived] [osu!stable] Osu not working with proxy

Problem details:
I set up a proxy to download maps through osu!direct, as it doesn't work with my provider, but when I enable the proxy, I can't connect to Bancho. What should I do?
osu! version: Stable 20250702.1 (latest)

Did you try to disable your proxy before?

I can't download maps in Osu at all, because when I play online, osu!direct opens, and it doesn't download maps. I don't want to use a VPN, and the game works without a proxy, but I can't download maps.

There's no way to download beatmaps without VPN for now since Russian ISPs has been blocking cloudflare these days.

As above reason, we can't make your issue be resolved from our end without VPN unfortunately. so Please try to use VPN even though you feel so uncomfortable.

You know you can run and play on bancho without VPN simply. As you can check and read what I posted my former post, there's no way what you want without VPN. That's all.

Is there a specific reason as to why you are not wanting to use a VPN?

From my experience, proxy servers have a historic background of not being able to connect to bancho or osu! services in general.

You might need to check the configuration, if you have a firewall attached to the proxy server then you may need to specifically allow osu! in the firewall.
